The 2024 WWE Draft will be an interesting moment as WWE continues to rebuild creatively
The amount of hype and anticipation leading into WrestleMania 40 is palpable. And not just within the WWE, as much of the professional wrestling industry is getting a boost around the sheer excitement of this event. There’s much to look forward to after the event as well, including the 2024 edition of the WWE Draft which Triple H mentioned while making the media rounds this week.
While speaking with Logan Paul on his show IMPAULSIVE, Triple H mentioned the WWE Draft and when it will be occurring.
“Yeah, I’m sure we’ll see people float all over the place. In a month or so, there’s a thing called the Draft,” Triple H said. “So, that’s when you can switch around and make moves and, you know, it’s all open to giving the best shows available on all things. Like, right now, you’re on FOX broadcast, but we’ll see.”
Triple H’s creative lead in WWE has seen a notable improvement. It’s nearly impossible to look at the show where it is today and think that the creative direction of the last decade under Vince McMahon was better. That change makes the idea of the 2024 WWE Draft interesting in its own right. There’s so much that could happen with these shows and rosters that it’s hard to predict.
That lack of predictability further increases when thinking about all the potential implications of WrestleMania 40. Who will hold the championships? Will any factions or teams get split up? Any new talents from WWE NXT set to make the move up to the main roster? There’s so much to look forward to that the excitement is more than enough to reignite interest in some fans who have left the product alone.
In recent years the WWE Draft has been yet another tired moment of repeated storytelling. Fans would see entire storylines drafted over to the other shows, unexplainable splits like the decision to remove Big E from The New Day, and others that further pushed fans away from watching the content. The 2024 edition should be an improvement looking at how creative has improved in other areas.
There’s a lot of positive momentum building behind WWE. WrestleMania 40 isn’t the culmination of said momentum but should be seen as a starting point to what can continue throughout the year, with the WWE Draft yet another marker in that growth.
