The Five Food Essentials for a Wrestlemania Party
By Bill Yankowy
Whenever we go to or plan a party one of the questions that pops up right away is what food we will be having. Depending on the party it could be something fancy, untraditional, or a barbecue event. Wrestlemania has become an event not only thousands of people from around the world attend, but thousands of people plan watch parties for the night.
Wrestlemania will be held in Philadelphia this year. While the fans might be scarfing down a hoagie on South Street in Philadelphia, other fans will be chowing down different types of foods. But which foods should you have for an event as big as Wrestlemania?
You could go the normal way like the Super Bowl and get the usual foods or you can be different, and think outside the box by getting different cuisines that might fancy your taste buds. If you do plan on having a Wrestlemania watch party and need help with what foods to have, then this article is for you. As someone who has hosted a few Wrestlemania watch parties over the years, food is as important in a selection as who to invite to your party. So here are five food essentials for a Wrestlemania party.
Pizza
I know this is a cliched pick but who doesn’t love pizza? There are so many types and styles of pizza that it doesn’t matter which pizza you get if it has your favorite toppings. There are meat lovers, veggie lovers, and people who like unusual toppings. Pizza is like Roman Reigns, it’s the Tribal Chief of party foods. We acknowledge pizza is the premiere party food for any and every party.
My personal selections would be a meat lovers’ pizza with some pepperoni, sausage, and an underrated pizza topping in bacon you can’t go wrong, or you can have pizza with white alfredo sauce. White Alfredo sauce has been getting a lot of love in the last few years as an alternative to pizza sauce. No matter what is on your pizza, it is a fantastic choice to have for your party.
Subs & Chips
If you want an alternative to pizza, then there’s nothing wrong with a foot-long sub. Just like pizza, subs can have so many varieties of meats, cheese, toppings, and bread that it is very hard to pick just one. Now to go along with subs nothing can beat chips, another great choice with an unlimited number of flavors. You can grab the biggest bags, and pour out the chips in a bowl.
Once you’ve got your subs and chips don’t forget the chips’ best friend the dip. There you have a wide variety of choices of different flavors and brands you can’t go wrong with any you choose. When having subs, it’s dive, dive, dive into the food.
Chicken Wings
This food could be associated with pizza, but a lot of people eat chicken wings alone. They’re small and messy but pack a lot of meat so you can have your version of meat madness at your party. Of course, a lot of people want to have wings and the battle is more of not how many you’re having but more of how many are there still. From mild to hot, wings are an option that you can never go wrong with.
Now I normally eat my chicken wings without dipping sauce but there are people who do eat with sauce. Bleu cheese, and ranch are among the top choices for sauces, and nothing wrong with those two or any other choices for sauce. Whether it comes in a little cup or in a bowl, dipping sauce is key for your chicken wings.
Tacos
An unusual choice but it’s still very popular. Tacos are a great hand-picking food that goes great either in a soft shell or hard shell. You have meat or chicken placed smack dab in the middle of the shell then with the toppings of cheese, lettuce, tomato, onions, and sour cream. It is fantastic once you take the first bite. Tacos are a great choice to have when you want to try something different then this is the food to go with.
Mozzarella Sticks
A favorite for people, this finger food is great for dipping, ripping, and eating. You’ve got the melted mozzarella cheese inside the stick when you first break the stick open, and it is gooey madness. You can eat mozzarella sticks whole or break it in half and you can eat away on the stick.
But what does a mozzarella stick go with any better than marinara sauce? The sauce you could use on pizza or put on top of spaghetti is the perfect dipping sauce to go with your mozzarella sticks. Its wonderful red thickness just stays right on the stick, and it never falls off the entire time you’re eating makes this the perfect tag team partner for mozzarella sticks.
These are the essential foods that you should have at your Wrestlemania party. I wanted to mention a few other choices such as French fries, potato skins, vegetable tray as potential other snack choices for your party. But whatever you have for this year or future Wrestlemania watch parties, these foods are the must have as you can have your own Wrestlemania moment.
