Much like the women's Royal Rumble this year, the men's side has a variety of different stories to tell and that need closure. Last year, we saw a returning Cody Rhodes enter the match at number thirty and eliminated Gunther to win the Rumble. Since he wasn't able to finish his story last year at WrestleMania against Roman Reigns, Rhodes hopes to be able to try again this year. A huge difference this year, is there are now two heavyweight championships to choose from instead of just facing Reigns.

With that being said, things are a lot more interesting with an opportunity to either face Reigns or Seth Rollins at WrestleMania for their respective titles. But there are three men that stand out as heavy favorites to win the 2024 Men's Royal Rumble match.

CM Punk

The obvious first choice is CM Punk. Much like Rhodes last year, Punk comes in with the WWE Universe behind him and the expectations to begin his return to the company after nearly a decade on a high note. Nothing maintains the hype of Punk's return more than winning the Rumble for the first time in his career. As we know, the feud between Punk and Rollins is inevitable and honestly, we're all waiting for it. Punk winning the Rumble instantly makes that match a reality on the grandest stage of them all.

If WWE decides not to pull the trigger on Punk to win the Rumble, will he ever win it? Not saying he has to for his career to be significant, but if there is any time to do so, it is now while he is the most over he has ever been in his entire wrestling career. He is 45 years old and doesn't wrestle regularly anymore. He also has never main evented WrestleMania in his career and this would fulfill that prophecy as well.

Cody Rhodes

A lot of people say they hope repeat Royal Rumble winners are a thing of the past. To take it a step further, the only wrestlers to win the Rumble in two consecutive years are Hulk Hogan, Stone Cold Steve Austin, and Shawn Michaels. If Rhodes was to win the Rumble this year he would join the company of all-time greats.

Most of the WWE Universe is still dealing with the fact that Rhodes fell short at WrestleMania against Reigns. Some would say Rhodes should have won the title at WrestleMania 39. Things are a little different this time around. The Bloodline isn't as strong as it was a year ago. It has seemed ever since the moment Rhodes lost to Reigns, it was obvious he wasn't finished with him and by any means necessary he would make his way back to Reigns to run it back. You know WWE's current obsession with updating the history books, well it's been 25 years since there was a back-to-back winner of the Royal Rumble. Don't even think for a second that fans would revolt if he won again. Everyone wants to see Rhodes finish the story, and winning the Rumble puts him that much closer once again.

Gunther

I don't if a current champion has ever won the Royal Rumble, but if anyone hasn't the one man that could do it is Gunther. Recently surpassing over 560-plus days as the WWE Intercontinental Champion, Gunther just recently made his declaration for the 2024 Royal Rumble.

Not only did he break the record for the longest time in a Rumble match last year, but add in his historic title reign, Gunther has to be a favorite to win in 2024. He is destined for much bigger things in WWE and simply he has outgrown the IC belt at this point. Gunther will be looking to continue his dominance into the 2024 Royal Rumble and WWE could throw us a complete curveball and have Gunther win the Rumble and challenge Rollins. In that scenario, causes us to wait for the Rollins versus Punk feud. Other than Reigns, nobody has been more dominant over the past couple of years than Gunther. He has been putting on great match after great match and it shouldn't shock anyone if he wins the Rumble in a couple of weeks.
