WWE Raw is kickstarting its road to Backlash, and WWE has already confirmed a World Title Match for said PPV: Damian Priest (c) vs. Main Event Jey Uso for the World Title. Jey Uso earned this title shot by winning a Fatal Four Way Number One Contender's Match against Drew McIntyre, Ricochet, and Bronson Reed in the main event of Raw, thanks to assistance from CM Punk. Clealry, Damian Priest won't lose his World Title in his first title defense, but it makes sense for Jey Uso to get this title shot since he did win a major singles match at WrestleMania that should have some title implications.

On this week’s episode of WWE Raw, five matches have been officially scheduled: Main Event Jey Uso vs. Finn Balor, The Way vs. Maxxine Dupri and Ivy Nile, Andrade vs. Dirty Dom, KC^2 vs. Chelsea Green & Piper Niven, and Sami Zayn (c) vs. Chad Gable for the Intercontinental Championship. In terms of segments, Cody Rhodes, the new Undisputed WWE Champion, will be there to kick off the show, and Rhea Ripley is scheduled to have a confrontation with Liv Morgan, who is on a long term revenge tour and actually yeeted a steel chair at Ripley in the backstage area last week on Raw.

In other news regarding WWE Raw, Sheamus is set to return after a long hiatus since losing to Edge on SmackDown in his last WWE match in 2023. The InterContinental Title is the only title that has eluded Sheamus' career, as that is the only title he needs to achieve a Grand Slam. During Gunther's entire title reign, Sheamus has been obsessed with dethroning him for the gold. However, Sami Zayn defeated Gunther before Sheamus could. That will certainly not sit well with Sheamus, and it is very likely that he targets Zayn for the IC Title in his return as a monster heel in the mid card on Raw.

With that being said, the following will focus on the five announced matches and the idea of Sheamus targeting Sami Zayn on the road to WWE Backlash 2024.

Sami Zayn (c) vs. Chad Gable [Intercontinental Championship]

Sami Zayn will defeat Chad Gable to retain the IC Title because he only recently won the title from Gunther at WrestleMania 40. Although the fans really want Chad Gable to win the IC Title, the WWE would not book Zayn to end Gunther's 600+ day reign just to end Zayn's reign in less than two weeks. It is also possible that this match ends in a no-contest due to interference from Gunther's sidekicks. Zayn and Gable did defeat Imperium last week, so Imperium will not be too happy about that loss. This would set up a future triple threat IC Title with Gunther involved, since he has a rematch clause.

Prediction: Sami Zayn

KC^2 vs. Chelsea Green & Piper Niven [Tag Match]

KC^2 will defeat Chelsea Green & Piper Niven because they are a legitimate tag team who should be taken more seriously as top contenders in the tag division whilst Chelsea Green and Piper Niven are a jobber tag team that needs to break up and pursue their singles careers as soon as possible.

Prediction: KC^2

Andrade vs. Dirty Dom [Personal Rivalry]

Andrade will defeat Dirty Dom because he only recently returned to the WWE and needs to continue his momentum on his road to championship gold. Andrade's victory over Dirty Dom in his tag match with Rey Mysterio at WrestleMania 40 will be solidified with a victory on Raw.

Prediction: Andrade

The Way vs. Maxxine Dupri & Ivy Nile [Tag Match]

The Way will defeat Maxxine Dupri and Ivy Nile because they are a legitimate tag team who should be taken more seriously as top contenders in the tag division. Although Candice's heel-ish tactics and nefarious means to win matches have not sit well with Indi Hartwell lately, they will still prevail.

Prediction: The Way

Main Event Jey Uso vs. Finn Balor [Main Event]

Main Event Jey Uso will defeat Finn Balor because he is already the number one contender for Damian Priest's World Title at BackLash and will thereby not lose a match until that title match. Finn Balor is merely a member of the Judgment Day who is being used as a stepping stone for Jey Uso to get to Damian Priest. This will likely be the main event of Raw and will hopefully deliver better than Jey Uso vs. Jimmy Uso at WrestleMania, but Jey Uso will not be standing tall after he wins that match because Judgment Day will be salivating like wild hyenas to attack him at will to close the show.

Prediction: Main Event Jey Uso
