Jey Uso had his sights set on Logan Paul but it looks like WWE made the right move to shift his focus to Seth Rollins in a surprise match on Monday Night Raw.

The May 5 episode of WWE Monday Night Raw kicked off with WWE World Heavyweight Champion, Jey Uso doing the typical Jey Uso things. However, this time, he is interrupted by Paul Heyman, the man who represents Seth Rollins and Bron Breakker. They’d exchange words that would lead to a huge match, potentially set for the main event, Seth Rollins versus Jey Uso for the championship. If this is WWE’s attempt to pivot away from Uso as champion and get heat on Rollins, this is the right call to make.

This was huge and unexpected news. Leading into this episode, Jey Uso was heading into an angle against Logan Paul, while Rollins was tied up with Roman Reigns and CM Punk. If WWE is calling an audible and shifting the title focus to Rollins versus Uso, that is the right move to make, and to steal a quote from many in the past, “it is what’s best for business.”

Seth Rollins versus Jey Uso would accomplish several things

Seth Rollins versus Jey Uso would be the right move for WWE to make. Coming out of WrestleMania 41, the company has been hit with several negative headlines, all of which could have been avoided. There was online apprehension around Jey Uso as champion, with many fans not being interested in a feud between him and Logan Paul. There’s no denying that Jey Uso is over with the WWE Universe and moving merchandise; there are serious concerns about his long-term credibility as champion.

On the other side of that coin, there’s Seth Rollins. Rollins has stepped into the role as the biggest heel on Monday Night Raw. But the biggest heel on the show was well outside the championship picture. This fixes that situation, which is vital for both Rollins and that championship. It didn’t make sense for the biggest story on the show to not feature the title. This shift also fixes that problem.

Getting the title on Rollins also puts him in a position to get “heat” from the fans. WWE has a true issue with getting negative reactions to its top heels and this has the potential to correct it, at least in this case.

WWE doesn’t make pivots often, usually staying the course regardless of what fans want to see. This is a rare shift and one that should be recognized. Seth Rollins versus Jey Uso is the right move to make for all of WWE Monday Night Raw.
