AEW took a page out of the March Madness book, bringing out a special online stream to introduce the field for the 2025 AEW Continental Classic. The tournament final is set for AEW World's End in Chicago on December 27 where the league and tournament final will happen on the same night. Both leagues are packed with some big names and the draws feature some interesting matches to come.
The draws of both the Gold and the Blue Leagues are as follows. The Gold League features: Darby Allin, PAC, Kevin Knight, Speedball Bailey, Kyle Fletcher, and Kazuchika Okada. The Blue League is made up on Konosuke Takeshita, Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, Orange Cassidy, Roddy Strong, and Mascara Dorada.
There are several matches that immediately jump off the page for the round robin tournament. Moxley and Castagnoli are on the same side of the board, meaning they will have to battle in one-on-one action. Is this the catalyst of the angle that leads to the Deathriders split? Kyle Fletcher and Kazuchika Okada are both in the Gold League, meaning that the two members of the Don Callis Family will have to fight it out as well. Another member of the family is standing in the Blue League as the IWGP World Heavyweight Champion, Konosuke Takeshita is there, standing as an early favorite to reach the finals from that bracket.
Think about all the great matches that PAC will have during this tournament. Roddy Strong can't have a bad match if he tried. Then there's the inclusion of CMLL standout, Mascara Dorada. Dorada is one of the biggest, can't miss prospects in the business and being in this tournament allows him to stand on a big stage with much of the North American wrestling community watching.
The AEW Continental Classic is an important tournament for the promotion. AEW is truly "where the best wrestle" and its viewers come to the product for excellent examples of professional wrestling. The CC is packed with competitors who can do just that on a nightly basis. As with previous years, this tournament is must see from start to finish.
