The Bloodline angle enters intriguing chapter on Monday Night Raw
The Bloodline angle has been the centerpiece of WWE television for the last few years. Storytelling orbits around Roman Reigns, and even though he’s not the WWE Undisputed Champion, his angle remains key to a lot of what is happening in the promotion. Both Drew McIntyre and Kevin Owens have turned on former “friends” for their allegiances with Reigns, and it looks like Seth Rollins is heading for a similar outcome – setting the stage for what will be an interesting new chapter to watch.
McIntyre’s turn throughout 2023 and 2024 was a start to some of the most interesting storytelling WWE has put together in recent years. Every time McIntyre opened his mouth, fans couldn’t help but to nod and say “you, know he has a point.” He made it clear that the people who sided with Reigns were in his crosshairs, and that became the focal point for his initial turn.
The same is happening with Kevin Owens. After years of fighting The Bloodline, he’s taken aback at the idea of Cody Rhodes jumping to side with him. He even alluded to dealing with Sami Zayn at some point, as he re-joined the OG Bloodline for WarGames.
All roads lead to Rollins, with his turn on The Shield more than 10 years ago being the focal point of why the fingers are starting to point his way. It’s a story beat that has been referenced in the past, but to see it come up in a time when WWE is making serious strides in connecting its history and rewarding fans for paying attention, the excitement is palpable for how this angle will go.
Will this angle lead to Owens, Rollins, and McIntyre joining together in a makeshift alliance? They have a reason to, as each one of them can target the men who have sided with Reigns. That would be a great way to keep them out of the title picture, while keeping them in a valuable angle. The idea that Roman Reigns, CM Punk, Kevin Owens, Drew McIntyre, Jey Uso, and Sami Zayn are all existing within an angle at the same time is an amazing feat of story development in the WWE. A promotion that was once devoid of any interesting stories to power its show.
It will be interesting to see how this angle plays out in the weeks and months to come. WWE is heading into the Royal Rumble in a few weeks, kicking off WrestleMania season. This is where the most important stories are pushed to the forefront, and an angle involving all these big names at once makes WWE programming “can’t miss” television.
