Factions are a major part of professional wrestling. Groups like The Four Horsemen, Nation of Domination, DX, NWO, Bullet Club, The New Day, The Elite, and more introduced fans to some of the biggest names in the business. Many important groups exist today, but there’s one that remains at or near the top of WWE but doesn’t get as much credit as they should. That’s Judgment Day, and it is time they’ve got more respect than fans want to show them.
When asking what the most important faction in recent WWE has been, fans will immediately point to The Bloodline. The group formed by Roman Reigns took the promotion through a winding story that has splintered off to feature Solo Sikoa at the helm against his cousin Jacob Fatu. While The Bloodline was a vital faction that has created some amazing moments, that doesn’t detract from how important The Judgment Day was during much of the same timeframe.
From 2022 through 2025, Judgment Day has gone through multiple changes, but along the way, the faction has helped build and rebuild some important figures in the company. It is easy to write off the original group that featured Damian Priest, Edge, and Rhea Ripley. Back then, WWE’s creative direction was listless, and this faction was a comical reminder of that. Winding, verbose but empty promos and many comparing them to The Dark Order in AEW. It was a group that should have been dead in the water, but something happened that changed their trajectory for the positive.
The catalyst that kicked off the build to what The Judgment Day has become today was the inclusion of Dominick Mysterio. In three years, Mysterio has turned into one of the most engaging aspects of the WWE roster. His presence in the Judgment Day helped rebuild Rhea Ripley as the megastar she is.
At the time she joined the faction, three years had passed since she last held any title. And the last title she held at that time was the Women’s Tag Team Titles with Nikki ASH, which was as pointless a reign as any. Ripley needed a fresh start, and Judgment Day opened that door.
Along with Ripley, this faction played a part in rebuilding the status of Damian Priest, Liv Morgan, and Finn Balor. Without Judgment Day, JD McDonagh would probably be benched like so many other names on the WWE roster. Even Carlito had a solid run with WWE as a part of the group, even if it was just for comedic purposes.
Today, The Judgment Day is dripping in gold, and this isn’t the first time they’ve been able to do so. They dominated Monday Night Raw, and holding all the championships multiple times goes a long way in proving they were able to do so. The Judgment Day has remained relevant in ways few expected when the group was first formed in 2022. It is time to recognize that this faction is a success by every definition in WWE.
