WWE Hall of Famer Terry “Hulk Hogan” Bollea passed away this morning at the age of 71. He was one of the biggest wrestlers and pop cultural icons of all time. In the 80s, Hulkamania ran wild. In the late 90s, he shocked the wrestling world when he turned heel, joined nWo, and went “Hollywood”. He made a few movies and had a reality show.

He is also the reason that WWE isn’t unionized, according to Jesse “The Body” Ventura. Exactly 10 years prior to the day of his death, a sex tape leaked and exposed Bollea as a racist. He was banned by the WWE for several years due to this. When he returned, instead of apologizing, he warned the locker room to be wary of cameras that could expose them

Bollea launched his own beer, Real American Beer. They are a sponsor for WWE, and the company owns a minority share in the company. Last year, a woman hired as a Brand Ambassador says she was fired after Bollea realized she was Black.  His last appearance in WWE was when "RAW" debuted on Netflix, and he was promptly booed out of the building.

Reactions to Bollea’s death have been varied, with wrestlers in WWE and TNA posting positively. CCO Paul “Triple H” Levesque, Vince, and Linda McMahon all took to social media to praise the man known as Hulk Hogan. Vince called him "the greatest WWE Superstar of ALL TIME".

Wrestling promotions send condolences for Hogan

TNA and NWA also posted about his death. AEW owner, Tony Khan, banned Hogan and his ex-wife, Linda, for being racist in 2020.

GCW owner, Brett Lauderdale reflected on growing up a Hulkamaniac, but acknowledged that Hogan “tarnished his legacy”.

While AEW hasn’t released a statement, several employees have weighed in, including “The Icon” Sting.

AEW wrestler, Carlie Bravo shared his conflicting opinion of The Hulkster.

WWE Superstars, past & present weigh in on Hogan

Longtime opponents and current Superstars shared their condolences and reflected on how Hogan shaped the wrestling business. Some wrestlers said he inspired them to become wrestlters themselves.

Hogan is survived his wife, Sky Daily and his two children from his first marriage, Brooke and Nick. WWE is expected to pay tribute to Hogan during SmackDown this Friday. For the latest news and opinion, stick with Daily DDT.
