There’s a lot to complain about when it comes to WWE’s booking, especially on the main roster. But one area that deserves praise is the recent booking of the women’s division. Not too long ago, fans clamored for interesting angles while WWE did the opposite, focusing on just the championships (barely) while repeating the same “can they coexist” angles. That’s no longer the case, as there are several interesting feuds and angles to watch in the women’s division.

Starting the conversation with the championships, one title is certainly more interesting than the other. This is due to Naomi’s pregnancy, which forced her to relinquish the WWE Women’s World Championship. She was scheduled to face Stephanie Vaquer at WWE Clash in Paris, but that match is off. Not only that, but Vaquer is off the card entirely, with an opponent for the title to be named.

This creates a perplexing and major opportunity for the company. Will WWE strap the rocket to Vaquer, putting the title around her waist in astoundingly quick fashion? Or will WWE go back to its ways and lean on an established name like Rhea Ripley, even as fans want to see someone new find their way into the main event?

Speaking of Ripley, she finds herself in a love square of sorts between Iyo Sky, Asuka, and Kairi Sane. Asuka is firmly against Sky being involved with Ripley because of their history against each other. Sky is trying to mend things with her old friends, while Sane is trapped between the two like a child caught up in a divorce. This is going to blow up at some point and has the potential to create an amazing match, especially if Asuka, Sane, and Sky get a chance to give the fans a dream three-way match on a major stage.

WWE Clash in Paris isn’t without a big women’s match on the show. Becky Lynch will defend the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship against Nikki Bella. This should be a fun match that Lynch wins, but gives Bella a chance to have a bit of a comeback match. So far, the women have delivered in the build to the match, and their in-ring will be serviceable along the way.

In talking about the women’s division, one must not forget to talk about Bayley. The former women’s champion has been in two intriguing vignettes the last two weeks. It looks like she’s having a character crisis of sorts, being pulled between both her babyface and heel gimmicks. There’s no telling where this will go, but if it gives Bayley the opportunity to do something fresh, everyone will be paying attention.

Now, talking about the main roster women’s division is impossible without talking about WWE SmackDown, where things are not going as well. Tiffany Stratton is in the throes of her championship reign, but fans are slowly beginning to turn on her. She picked up a solid win over Jade Cargill, and instead of building up a fresh challenger, WWE went back to Nia Jax, a feud that no one wants to see.

Things are even worse in the midcard, as Giulia can’t see to get on television nor get a match. She won the title back on June 27, defended it once on August 1, and that was the last match she’s had since. This creates the perfect opening for fans to complain that WWE has no idea how to book Giulia as she’s seemingly been benched, even with an important title around her waist.

There are good things going on in WWE’s women’s division. While there’s room for improvement, it is worth noting what is happening that fans are excited to see each week.
