Toni Storm deservedly takes the top spot in the 2024 PWI Women's 250

While rankings in professional wrestling should be taken with a grain of salt, they are still interesting pieces of discourse when good-faith conversations are held. The 2024 Women’s PWI 250 was released on October 15 and there’s one thing that everyone should be in agreement on, Toni Storm is the right choice for the number one position.

“Timeless” Toni Storm has been a gift in professional wrestling for the last year. Ever since she dropped the AEW Women’s World Championship in August of 2023, her descent into madness has been one of the shining acts in professional wrestling. Critics may have complained that All Elite Wrestling doesn’t have compelling characters or stories, but Storm’s last year of action throws water on that idea every single time. This is an accolade that she deserves through and through.

If you can listen to Storm in commentary or cutting a promo and not chuckle, then you must not like fun in professional wrestling. She’s the perfect mix of carny and over-acting needed to make professional wrestling work. Even as she’s saying some of the most ridiculous things, there’s no reason to not believe she doesn’t mean every word.

All the while, she’s put on some of the best wrestling in AEW. She’s a performer who can be trusted to go out and have a solid to great match with whomever she’s facing. That’s a skill set that should be recognized with accolades such as the top spot on this annual list. She’s deserving of it and there should be little arguing about the counterpoint.

Other standouts on the list include the following to round out the top ten: Jordynne Grace, Rhea Ripley, Maika, Stephanie Vaquer, Sareee, Bayley, Willow Nightingale, and ATHENA. Three WWE names follow with Roxanne Perez, Liv Morgan and IYO SKY.

If nothing more, this and the men’s version of the list should be seen as an opportunity to familiarize yourself with more performers throughout the industry. There’s a lot of wrestling going on around the world and this list will surely have some unrecognizable names.
