What is WWE doing with Giulia?

Giulia came in with the aura of a superstar, but it did not take long for WWE to kill that vibe.

WWE has a roster that is packed with some of the best performers in the world. Some of these talents were created through the WWE pipeline. Someone like Bianca Belair stands out as an example. Others built their skills in other companies, eventually making the jump to WWE. Unfortunately for that group, many are underutilized in embarrassing ways. Giulia is one of those names, and fans are openly questioning what WWE has done to a performer who was once one of the biggest names in women’s wrestling.

For some, this is a wild question to ask. Giulia has been in WWE for less than a year and has already held two championships. But both title reigns were marred by questionable booking decisions. First, her WWE NXT Women’s Championship run came to a halt at 63 days because of reported injuries, only to see her return just days later to challenge for the title.

She’s the current WWE Women’s United States Champion, 63 days into her title run at the time of this writing. How many title defenses has she had to date? One. Giulia won the title on June 27, and her single title defense occurred on August 1. Since winning the title, Giulia has taken part in only one match, the 20-woman battle royal at WWE Evolution 2025.

Remember all the pomp and circumstance WWE had for Giulia before she signed and arrived in WWE NXT? Where’d that energy go? There’s no excuse for a performer of Giulia’s ability to be effectively benched when she’s holding an important championship. This is also a testament to how bad the booking is for both the women’s division and on WWE SmackDown, but both of those conversations deserve long-form pieces in their own right.

The pairing with Giulia and Kianna James just doesn’t work. Giulia doesn’t need James; she doesn’t elevate her or the title in any way. It feels like the creative team threw the idea at the wall to see if it would stick. Well, it is not sticking, nor is it helping either woman.

Giulia came in with the aura of a major star in WWE. In less than a year, that energy is gone. Hopefully, WWE will turn things around for her or this may become a situation that is similar to how the promotion booked Sareee, and everyone remembers how that played out.
