ESPN has moved up its rights takeover of WWE PLEs, meaning WWE Clash in Paris is the last premium-live-event that will air on Peacock. The new deal for ESPN to host WWE PLEs was originally set to begin in 2026; however, it will now start on September 20, 2025, with a yet-to-be-announced new PLE, Wrestlepalooza. The news is expected to drop on Thursday, which is the day ESPN’s new direct-to-consumer app launches.
According to Tony Maglio of The Hollywood Reporter, splitting WrestleMania and SummerSlam into two nights allowed WWE to meet its commitment for Peacock, opening the door for this shift to come sooner. To make up for that change, WWE is expected to move main-roster WWE programming to stream on the NBCUniversal platform. There’s no telling what that content will be, but it is expected to be announced soon.
Wrestling fans will note that September 20, 2025, is the same date for AEW All-Out. WWE continues to implement a counterprogramming attack on All Elite Wrestling, booking several shows on the same day or weekend as AEW’s featured PPVs. The debate on whether it has had a positive or negative impact still rages online, but that hasn’t stopped WWE, as it has ramped up efforts in recent months.
WWE Clash in Paris is set for Sunday, August 31, from the Paris La Defense Arena in Nanterre, France. To date, four matches are set for the show. John Cena will take on Logan Paul. Seth Rollins will defend the WWE World Heavyweight Championship against CM Punk, LA Knight, and Jey Uso. Rusev will battle Sheamus in a Donnybrook match, and Roman Reigns will take on Bronson Reed.
ESPN’s new DTC app will cost fans $29.99 per month. That cost will cover all future WWE PLEs at no extra cost. This also includes access to all linear ESPN programming.
