WWE doesn't need to stick to PLEs that feature five to six matches and Evolution 2025 proves that point.

July 12-13 is set for a lot of professional wrestling action. One of the centerpieces of the weekend is WWE Evolution 2025. WWE is finally bringing back the all-women’s showcase and shining a light on the stacked roster of ladies in the company. While ticket sales may be struggling, this is a strong card from top to bottom. With seven matches announced, this shows that WWE can find a way to book solid cards that feature more than five to six matches.

Long gone are the days when WWE would book PLE and PPVs that featured more than 10 matches. Fans would huddle around the television or plant themselves in their arena seats for hours on end to see several of the top names, and maybe not top names in the company. That shifted during the COVID-19 global pandemic, and WWE started putting 5-6 matches on the show.

Many praised that move, but it also created a situation where fewer performers were on these shows. That shift has impacted entire divisions like the main roster tag team divisions, as those titles are rarely featured on PLEs. This also plays a part in the conversation about the lack of minority men leveraged as singles performers on the main roster, but that’s another debate for another day.

WWE Evolution 2025 features seven matches with a planned 21 women announced for the card. This does not include the ladies scheduled for the battle royal to get a shot at a women’s world championship. This show is going to be bursting at the seams with the best names in the WWE women’s division and newer faces who fans may not recognize. While the development of the angles leading into the PLE hasn't been the strongest, there’s no debating the quality of the performers set to be featured on this show.

WWE Evolution 2025 proves that WWE can put together a PLE that features more than 5-6 matches and includes more performers who fans want to see. Does every card need to be 10+ matches? Absolutely not. Does every card need to be 5-6 matches? Also no.

Imagine what WWE could do if the company put the time into telling adequate storylines to build seven strong matches each PLE. Many of the complaints about perceived “value” would be harder to defend. WWE has the resources and connections to develop the creative that fans want to see. Now, does the company have the desire to do so. That’s an entirely different question and one with an answer that continues to point toward “no.”

WWE Evolution 2025 is a strong card from top to bottom

There’s a lot to look forward to on WWE Evolution 2025. The battle royal is going to create at least one new challenger for one of the world titles on the main roster. The company has a chance to shine a spotlight on someone like Stephanie Vaquer, building her momentum even further than it’s already been.

This card is strong. Anyone who argues against that isn’t coming to the conversation from a good-faith standpoint. Fans should be excited about WWE Evolution 2025 and the hope that WWE will start to add more matches back to PLEs to include more stars on the roster.
