June is ready to end with the final episode of Monday Night Raw for the month. The June 30 edition of the flagship WWE title is set to include several big matches, including an important title match. The episode will start at a special time of 6 pm EST and will hail from Pittsburgh, PA. Looking ahead, here’s a breakdown of what to expect on WWE Raw.
GUNTHER has some words for Bill Goldberg
Listen, no one asked for or wants GUNTHER versus Bill Goldberg. Those who claim they did and do are probably lying. There are a lot of other things that Gunther should be doing as WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Yet here we are heading into the July 12 Saturday Night’s Main Event.
Gunther cut an excellent promo on Goldberg last week. One that will hopefully kick off a run as champion reminiscent of his time as Intercontinental Champion. There are a lot of opinions about WWE’s booking of Gunther as a World Champion compared to his run as Intercontinental Champion, and there are some valid points made. Hopefully, this will begin to turn things around.
The New Day versus Judgment Day for the WWE World Tag Team Championship
This has the potential to be an interesting match. From a worker’s standpoint, these are four excellent performers in the contest. The real intrigue pops up when thinking about the story and the outcome. On the one hand, it would make sense for Judgment Day to lose, as Finn Balor’s losing streak is a catalyst for the group’s eventual splintering. However, what if Roxanne Perez helps Balor and JD McDonagh win as a way to gain Raquel Rodriguez’s trust so they can be WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions heading into Evolution 2?
On the other hand, The New Day is an excellent team, but this tag team title run has not been good. They won the title at WrestleMania 41 and have defended the title one time since. That’s not good enough. In fact, it speaks further to the problem with Triple H’s booking of Black men on the main roster. Do expect this match to really help with those accusations.
Rhea Ripley to open Raw
Rhea Ripley picked up a big win against Raquel Rodriguez at WWE Night of Champions. WWE will probably push her back into the title picture heading into Evolution 2. She’s going to take that title back from IYO Sky at some point. Hopefully, that happens at Crown Jewel in Perth rather than Evolution. This segment will build Ripley’s place heading into that show.
Nick Aldis and Adam Pearce to make announcements about WWE Evolution 2025
Speaking of Evolution 2025. Nick Aldis and Adam Pearce will make announcements about the show that is less than two weeks away. Right now, only one match has been booked, so there’s a lot of work that needs to be done in order to make this an important show for fans on what is going to be a packed weekend of action.
Sheamus versus Rusev
This is an important midcard match for Monday Night Raw. Rusev is back but hasn’t done anything of value since returning. He’s felt stuck in a holding pattern, as if WWE did not have any true plans for where he would head next. Still, this will be a fun match. Expect Rusev to come out on top, and perhaps this is the next step to build him up the roster.
Sami Zayn & Penta versus Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed
The biggest story on Monday Night Raw does not involve the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Instead, it involves Seth Rollins’ faction. At some point, Rollins is going to become world champion again. Right now, everything feels like a holdover until he cashes in the Money in the Bank briefcase. This match will be a fun main event with some big spots to further that story.
