The buzz around LA Knight continues to grow and it is not for a good reason. While he has become one of the most popular names on the roster, fans are pointing out how his use is raising red flags that WWE doesn't have any intention to make him the top star. The momentum behind that argument gained further steam after the November 10 episode of WWE Raw.
The last time LA Knight has been involved in a televised match was back on October 27, when he was defeated by Bron Breakker. That match seemed to be the final nail in the coffin for Knight, as he's been used sparingly since. He did not appear on the November 3 episode at all. To make matters worse, his promo during the November 10 episode was cut, as the segment randomly faded to black while he was in mid sentence. That caused a lot of people to express concerns about his placement within the company.
Then came the main event segment. CM Punk and Jey Uso stood in the ring, while The Vision with Logan Paul had them surrounded. In a typical WWE trope, someone was going to come out to make the save. That someone was Undisputed WWE Champion, Cody Rhodes. Rhodes, who is on SmackDown and recently feuding with Drew McIntyre, inserted himself into this feud, setting up the WarGames match at the next PLE. That left LA Knight out of the equation. The same LA Knight who has been involved with this main event feud on WWE Raw for much of the year.
The evidence is mounting. LA Knight is in a position where he's built a ravenous base of fans, who seemingly will not have their desires to see him hold a main title fulfilled. WWE has long been known to focus specifically on who the company has decided to push, much to the chagrin to the paying and watching fans. While there have been some deviations in the likes of Kofi Kingston, Daniel Bryan, and originally Becky Lynch, they are much more the exception than the rule.
This iteration of WWE seems even more pressed to stay the course, regardless of what fans want and the overall perception of the product. LA Knight would be a substantial champion for the company, as he checks all the boxes when it comes to selecting a performer who could be the company's face while holding the title. Still, it is interesting to see him frequently overlooked for other performers at a time when the company needs someone fresh at the top.
At some point, there will be a tell all interview about why WWE continued to overlook LA Knight. Until that moment comes, fans will have to relent to the idea that WWE does not have any intention to place him at the top, no matter how hard they cheer.
