WWE SummerSlam 2025 is set for two big nights of action. John Cena and Cody Rhodes will close the show as the main event of Night Two. Looking ahead to not only that match, here's a full preview and predictions for how this PLE will go down in a few short days.
Roman Reigns & Jey Uso vs. Bron Breakker & Bronson Reed [Tag Match]
Roman Reigns is not losing his SummerSlam return match to Seth Rollins' lackeys after losing his WrestleMania match against Rollins, so this is assuredly a no-brainer. He wants revenge on Paul Heyman for betraying him, and he will get it, especially since Rollins won't be at ringside due to his injury. Additionally, this victory should serve as an effective way to regain momentum for Jey Uso, who lost his World Title to Gunther just two months after winning it. Breakker and Reed have already solidified their faction with a plethora of victories since Mania, so a loss here to two top stars won't hurt.
Prediction: Roman Reigns & Jey Uso
Judgment Day (c) vs. Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss [World Tag Titles]
Although Liv Morgan has been replaced as tag champ since getting injured, the momentum of Judgment Day has not been tarnished. Roxanne Perez already came in clutch and proved herself on the main roster by helping Raquel retain at Evolution in a fatal four-way as well as against Bayley and Lyra Valkyria on Raw. However, it looks like their time will come to an end because the team of Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss has become incredibly popular lately, and this victory would serve as consolation for Charlotte, who is now out of the World Title picture after losing to Tiffany Stratton.
Prediction: Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss
Dirty Dom (c) vs. AJ Styles [IC Title]
Dirty Dom and AJ Styles have had a very comedic program, as Dom has been cunningly faking his injury to avoid a title match against Styles. Styles saw right through Dom and decided to prank him for weeks in an attempt to expose him and get management to put Dom back in the ring. Styles was successful in doing so and can now out wrestle Dirty Dom to become the new IC Champion, as he would bring a lot of prestige to the belt with some killer matches. It also seems that Finn Balor is on the verge of screwing Dom out of the IC Championship after gradually planting seeds of dissension.
Prediction: AJ Styles
Giulia (c) vs. Zelina Vega [U.S. Title]
Giulia recently dethroned Zelina Vega on SmackDown, but Vega got her lick back by eliminating Giulia in the Evolution Battle Royal. Vega does have a rematch clause and wants her title back. However, this will merely solidify Guilia's title reign before she moves on to new challengers. It seems that Kiana James will be Giulia's manager to help her with mic work due to the language barrier, so solidifying that partnership is also important. In following, Kiana James will screw Vega in this match as revenge for Zelina calling her a "clipboard Karen" last week in what would be a nefarious retention for Giulia.
Prediction: Giulia
Aleister Black vs. Damian Priest [Personal Rivalry]
Aleister Black currently has a feud with Ron Killings merely because Ron Killings interrupted him while he was trying to discuss his future on SmackDown with GM Nick Aldis. Damian Priest, who has a history with Ron Killings during their time in the Judgment Day, is a bit upset that Aleister Black took out his aggression on Ron Killings. This is just a filler feud to provide momentum for Aleister Black in his future push as a singles star, whilst Priest and Killings will likely target the tag titles together as a consolation prize after Wyatt Sicks retain the tag titles in their clustered TLC Match at SummerSlam.
Prediction: Aleister Black
Naomi (c) vs. Rhea Ripley vs. Iyo Sky [World Title]
Naomi shocked the world when she cashed in her MITB Contract in the main event world title match between Iyo Sky and Rhea Ripley at Evolution to become World Champ. Clearly, Naomi will not lose her first title defense on PPV. She has been the MVP of the women's division this year, and her reign should last until WrestleMania 42, at the very least. The subtle beef between Ripley and Sky will cancel them out, leading to Naomi picking up the scraps to sneak in a retention that should solidify her reign before moving on to new challengers, such as Stephanie Vaquer, at Clash in Paris.
Prediction: Naomi
John Cena (c) vs. Cody Rhodes [WWE Title]
Although John Cena should pass the torch to Cody Rhodes as the next face of the WWE, it would be eminently counterproductive for Cena to drop the title back to the same person he dethroned. Also, it seems that Cody is not even getting babyface reactions anymore, as he has been booed out of the arena lately, Since Cody was wearing The Rock's watch last week and Cena is slowly warming up to the fans again, there have been rumors of a double turn. In fact, Cena did stop The Rock from screwing Cody at Mania 40. The Rock would not forget that, despite his recent alliance with Cena.
Many fans were upset that The Rock did not tie loose ends to the story by interfering in the WrestleMania match between Cena and Rhodes, but maybe he was waiting to strike for this anticipated title rematch at SummerSlam. All Cena wants is to walk out of the WWE with the title, and The Rock can take all that away from Cena by betraying him here. However, turning Cody heel would be unwise from a business standpoint, so Cody won't be the one who benefits from that betrayal. Instead, the corporate sell-out and Plan B, Seth Rollins, will cash in MITB to win the WWE Title.
Many fans thought guys like Randy Orton or CM Punk would be the one to end Cena's career due to their long term history with him. However, many forgot about The Rock's history with Cena from WrestleMania 28 and 29. Their track record is still 1-1, and they can finally break the tie for Cena's last match. As for the main event scene, Seth Rollins has been the MVP for the men's division this year. Since his injury is supposedly a work, winning this title will solidify his faction and lead to major babyface chases by Sami Zayn, LA Knight, and especially Roman Reigns on the road to Mania 42.
Prediction: Mr. MITB Seth Rollins
