Heading into the 2025 Royal Rumble, there was a growing concern about the booking of that match. It seemed like Tripe H and WWE Creative were so focused on the men’s division, that the women’s division was being left to the wayside. However, looking at how the women’s rumble was booked there’s a lot of opportunity to do some interesting things in the women’s division.
When talking about either of the Rumbles, you must start with the winner. Charlotte Flair made her return and walked out as the last performer standing. While Flair isn’t a truly captivating winner, she versus Tiffany Stratton is a feud that has potential to capture attention. While fans may roll their eyes the fact, Flair will always remain booked at or near the top of the division. Will she defeat Stratton at WrestleMania 41? That’s a big question to ask because Stratton has the potential to be a generational star.
Looking beyond Flair’s victory, there’s a lot more to look forward to in the women’s division coming out of the match.
Alexa Bliss’s big return is going to be a featured point to discuss. While she didn’t last too long, nor toss out any competitors, the fans loved to see her. She was eliminated by the combined forces of Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez, setting up the perfect feud for her return. Bliss is a huge fan favorite and they are going to want to see her placed near the top of the division, in an important angle. Slotting her against Morgan and Raquel opens a few doors down the line.
What about Bianca Belair and Naomi? They worked well together throughout the match. Except for that moment when Jordynne Grace and Naomi were embracing, reuniting under the WWE banner after time together in TNA Wrestling. Was that a flash of jealously in Belair? It’s a moment that can be leveraged for not only something between Belair and Grace, but the developing story between Naomi, Belair, and Jade Cargill.
The women’s midcard champions were involved and both left with something to do after the match. Ivy Nile wants a shot at Lyra Valkyria and made it a point to eliminate the current Women’s Intercontinental champion. Chelsea Green has been an excellent Women’s United States Champion. But that eventual split from Piper Niven may be one step closer after the latter eliminated the champ by accident.
You can’t forget about Roxanne Perez lasting an hour in the match, setting the tone for what will be an excellent main roster call up.
WrestleMania season is upon us and with a few months between now and the showcase of the year, WWE has an opportunity to do build several important feuds and performers for the women’s division. The momentum is there. Now it is time to capitalize on it.
