Zelina Vega should get a run in WWE NXT
WWE has done a great job utilizing NXT as a brand to give main roster names a “refresh” of sorts. Dolph Ziggler had a strong run there as NXT Champion, and Becky Lynch helped kick off the momentum that the women’s division still enjoys today when she did the same. Looking at the available roster on both Monday Night Raw and SmackDown, a run in NXT for Zelina Vega would make a lot of sense right now.
Zelina Vega recently took to social media to talk about helping her friend, Stephanie Vaquer, with pieces of her ring gear. Within that same post, she hinted at wanting to wrestle the new NXT name in the future.
“I had to make sure my girl could continue walking out looking like the star she is! Added a little something extra on there too, it looks so bomb on her,” Vega posted. “Hope to wrestle her soon.”
Vega having an extended run in NXT would be a good use of her abilities and experience. People tend to think about her run in WWE only, but she has 14 years of experience behind her. She knows how to work in the ring, and her character work is consistently praised as some of the best in the company. Vega would be an excellent resource to the younger performers honing their skills in NXT and they should all be ready to learn from her.
Plus, this would be an opportunity to leverage Vega as a bigger talent on that show. Both SmackDown and Monday Night Raw have stacked women’s divisions. It would be hard to see a way that Vega could rise to the top, even with the new midcard championships on both shows. But on NXT, she would immediately be an interesting name to add into the mix. Imagine seeing her playing things up with Roxanne Perez, Cora Jade, Giulia, Stephanie Vaquer, Sol Ruca, Jaida Parker, and several other names on that brand. In many ways, she’d fit right into the madness that is the WWE NXT women’s division. If booked right, Vega could find her way into a singles title run of some sort.
Zelina Vega is a talented member of the WWE roster. While she may not get as much time as her fans want to see on the main roster, there’s space for her in NXT. Giving her a run on the Tuesday night show would go a long way in building her up and perhaps leading to a title victory of her own.
