The Authority and John Cena promo

Stephanie McMahon opened up by talking about how lucky the people of Hartford must feel, considering she was born in their town. She then talked about how proud they were of Seth Rollins, and how he is “virtually-guaranteed” to become WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Triple H then talked about how Cena won an historical ladder match as well, saying he became a 15-time world champion. Then he introduced Cena.

Cena came out and told the world that he would give Daniel Bryan a title shot as soon as he is ready. Stephanie brushed that off and was ready to celebrate with Cena. The Authority unleashes a giant mock-up of the new video game cover that comes out in October, with Cena as the cover man. Cena still didn’t buy The Authority’s enthusiasm, and let them know it. Triple H then mocked Cena’s “Doctor of Thuganomics” attitude, asking Cena if he wanted to do things the easy way or the hard way, Cena chose the hard way. Triple H announced that Cena would put the title on the line at Battleground in a Fatal-4 Way against Randy Orton, Kane and Roman Reigns. He also announced Cena would be in tag team action tonight, teaming with Reigns against Orton and Kane. Cena made fun of Stephanie’s issues with Vickie Guerrero last week and left, but Triple H reminded him that there’s always a Plan B. Rollins then came out and nonchalantly stood next to Cena, showing off the Money in the Bank Briefcase. He then went to the ring to celebrate with The Authority.

Really good promo. Stephanie and Triple H have been fantastic for the past year, but tonight in particular was truly A+ work from them. Cena did a good job too. “Serious” Cena really knows how to get the job done. The way that Rollins and Cena acted around each other is a minor thing, but they played it real well, and that goes a long way.
