An early look at the WWE Payback match card and speculation for what could be seen.

With WrestleMania 32 in the books, it’s time to move on to the WWE Payback pay-per-view. The show takes place on May 1 from the Allstate Arena in Chicago, IL.

If Monday’s episode of Raw was any indication, WWE clearly has some ideas in mind for what could be seen on the show. We even got a No. 1 Contender announced for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Is it guaranteed that Roman Reigns will face this Superstar ar Payback?

With that in mind, let’s take a look at the possible match card for the upcoming PPV.

Apollo Crews vs. Ryback

  • Speculation.
  • Admittedly, this one is kind of out there. No one knows if Apollo Crews will wrestle at the next pay-per-view following his debut. However, given where Ryback is as a mid-card heel, he may be a good first opponent for the former NXT star.

Baron Corbin vs. Dolph Ziggler

  • Speculation.
  • Baron Corbin vs. Dolph Ziggler at WWE Payback seems likely. Their tensions began after a match on Raw that will probably lead to something in less than a month.

Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady vs. The Dudley Boyz

The Wyatt Family vs. The League of Nations

  • Speculation.
  • On Raw, The Wyatt Family would seemingly turn face, beating down The League of Nations who had just turned on King Barrett. It sets up an interesting dynamic where Bray Wyatt is now a good guy and could lead his trio in defeating and possibly disbanding the Lads.

Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn

  • Speculation.
  • Fear not everyone: Sami Zayn is OK. He did not actually suffer a shoulder injury. It’s part of the storyline to get some heat on Kevin Owens. Zayn will come back soon, get a big pop, and take out his former best friend. A match at WWE Payback wouldn’t be guaranteed, but it’s possible.

WWE Women’s Championship Match
Charlotte (c) vs. Natalya

  • Speculation.
  • Saying that this is for the WWE Women’s Championship has a good ring to it. However, after Raw and Natalya’s words toward Charlotte, it seems a match between them for the belt is likely.

WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match
Roman Reigns (c) vs. AJ Styles

  • Somewhat confirmed.
  • Shockingly, to close Raw, AJ Styles defeated Chris Jericho, Cesaro, and Kevin Owens to become the new No. 1 Contender to the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. He’ll face Roman Reigns and while a match at WWE Payback would seem likely, it wasn’t confirmed yet. Something seems a bit fishy about putting these two together, though, right?
