Sami Zayn is Being Wasted on WWE Raw
By Carl Gac
We take a look at how Sami Zayn is being totally wasted on Monday Night Raw.
If you were to compile a list of the best in-ring talents in WWE right now, it’s not hard to believe that Sami Zayn would be pretty high up on that list. If you compiled a similar list for the best talents in the World right now, Sami Zayn would also rank near the top of that list. If only WWE treated him like the stellar talent that he is.
After plying his trade on the indy circuit for over a decade, the former El Generico, made his move to the apparent “promised land” of the WWE. A near three year stay in NXT was a success on many levels, including holding the NXT Title before losing it to long time foe Kevin (Steen) Owens, and several matches that stood among the best in the history of NXT.
The earlier this year Zayn made the full time move to the main roster. Instantly placed around the top of the card, he butted heads with Owens and was seemingly a contender for the top titles in WWE.
During the WWE Draft he was assigned to the Raw brand, shortly after winning a war with Owens at BattleGround. A Tag team, with another forgotten man Neville, was a way to fill his time, but not the way to thrust him into your face every week. A short feud with Chris Jericho saw Sami lose a match between the pair at Clash of Champions. Following that things started to slowly go down hill for Sami.
Zayn now finds himself in the early stages of a feud with monster in the making Braun Strowman. A feud that seems to have come from nowhere, but may also very well have nowhere as its ultimate destination. Strowman has been embroiled in his ongoing battles with various jobbers on Raw every week, and now looks ready to have an actual feud with a proper roster member.
But is this a massive waste of the talent that is Sami Zayn? For me it seriously is.
At a time when Zayn could possibly be feuding with long time rival Kevin Owens, with the Universal Championship on the line, he finds himself further away from the top tier than ever before. Owens has his issues with Seth Rollins right now, but the addition of Zayn in that storyline could give it a whole new dimension. If you look at the reports from WWE live events, Zayn has been involved in triple threat main events alongside both men, why not do the same on TV and pay-per-view?
Even a surprise trade to SmackDown Live could be a shot in the arm for both Sami Zayn and the WWE as a whole. Zayn could instantly slot in to the top level of SmackDown and thrive in the ring. This could be the perfect time to give us an AJ Styles vs Sami Zayn feud, with the World Championship on the line.
The feud with Strowman could be the stepping stone to bigger things, but is most likely just another way to build up Strowman for a spot near the top of the card. Sami Zayn is fantastic in the ring, he just needs the opponent who can match his talents on the other side of the ring.

The way things are going right now, Sami Zayn should be getting ready for his first proper run with a World title, if recent goings on are any indication it will be a long and winding road to any kind of gold.
