Kevin Owens vs. Chris Jericho: Better for Royal Rumble or WrestleMania?
By Sarah Hirsch
Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho are headed for splitsville. But when and where will they settle their differences?
If anyone knows how the world of pro wrestling works, nine times out of ten friends in the squared circle become bitter enemies. Prime examples over the years include The Four Horsemen, The Shield, Shawn Michaels and Triple H just to name a few. Now, it is evident that somewhere perhaps in the near future, best friends Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens will join that endless list.
Dissension between the two has been hinted at for the past couple of weeks on Raw. It seems that the tension is finally boiling over courtesy of last night’s tag match on Raw. The two would end up in a shoving match while yelling at each other. The friendship is all but over at this point, and Sunday will prove interesting to see what happens further between the best friends.
The future meeting in the ring is not a matter of if – it is a matter of when. It is hard to predict where exactly Jericho and Owens will go. Fans are well aware of a busy 2017 that awaits Jericho once his commitments to the company are done. Add in Owens’ feud with Roman Reigns and a possible Finn Balor return only makes it more complicated. Jericho is tied up with Seth Rollins at the moment, but that could end on Sunday at Roadblock. It is really hard to say what could happen.
Being Owens is Universal Champion has its own set of complications in the two meeting in the squared circle. If Balor returns before WrestleMania, it is a matter of time before he comes for what he never lost in the first place. There are so many ways this could go, and it will take time for the theories to dissipate in the coming days, weeks and months.

Next Sunday will be a start to give fans an idea of where things will start to head. After the events of Raw Monday night, Jericho vs. Owens could very well happen at the Royal Rumble. It depends on those outside factors that surround the men. Then again if they don’t meet at the Rumble, it gives either man a chance to do something during the event. Maybe a Jericho elimination courtesy of Owens? Royal Rumble is a chance to add to the drama if the two meet in Orlando.
As much as the spotlight has been on the duo, WrestleMania seems like the best option here. It would be a feud that has had plenty of buildup over time that should culminate there. But if Jericho isn’t able to make it to WrestleMania due to his outside commitments, then that is the only way I see the two meeting at the Royal Rumble at the Alamodome. Otherwise all signs should point towards Camping World Stadium in Orlando. Whether it would be for the Universal Championship or not remains to be seen.

Despite of the possibilities that are up in the air right now, whenever Owens and Jericho will meet it will be worth the wait. The duo has been entertaining all around on Raw right now, and even though it seems that the friendship is done for, the fallout will be just as fun. Either way the Road to WrestleMania is starting to get exciting.
