Predictions for Ring of Honor’s First Pay-Per-View, Best in the World

Following their two show series with New Japan Pro Wrestling, Ring of Honor is heading for their first-ever live pay-per-view on June 22nd, Best in the World. Best in the World is going to be a huge show, and ROH is sure to use all the resources at their disposal to get people talking and to get people watching.

Only one match has been announced so far, that match has Adam Cole defending the ROH World Championship against Michael Elgin. There are sure to be a few blockbuster matches added, as Best in the World is the homecoming for one of ROH’s most famous alumni, and the farewell to one of their brightest stars.

On June 22nd, former ROH World Television Champion Christopher Daniels will make his return to ROH, that’s the good news. The great news, as his vignette that aired after War of the Worlds seemed to imply, is that his Bad Influence partner, Kazarian, will be joining him. The vignette showed Daniels in a bar drinking a martini, when another man showed up. His face was off the screen and his name on his shirt was censored, but all signs point to it being Kazarian, who can’t actually appear on ROH TV until his TNA contract is up in June, and that would be great news for wrestling fans.

Though they can’t compete under the Bad Influence name, Daniels and Kazarian should appear in tag action together at the PPV, hopefully putting over ROH’s current tag champions, reDRagon. Daniels and Kazarian are both very talented in-ring performers, and that talent would be matched by reDRagon’s Kyle O’Reilly and Bobby Fish. I would love to see Daniels and Kazarian be tag champions at one point, but they should start off by putting over the young and talented reDRagon.

Then, there’s the big news coming out of War of the Worlds, where Kevin Steen seemed to be giving a farewell speech, until Silas Young interrupted and started a feud between the two. Steen has said before that he is a fan of Young, who has been seemingly lying in wait for a chance to breakout in ROH, and with Steen leaving, his chance may be coming. Steen should put Young over before he makes his rumored departure for WWE.

Finally, there’s the announced match, Cole vs. Elgin. Elgin has been chasing the ROH World Title for more than a year, and it seems his time may be coming. Cole is young, and extremely talented, and he has had a really good run with the title, and I will be very upset when his run ends.

However, it’s Elgin’s turn. Elgin has worked very hard, and has come close many times. Hopefully, ROH pulls the trigger on him at Best in the World.

Just some early predictions for the pay-per-view. We will keep you updated on matches as they become announced.
