Money in the Bank: Paige vs. Naomi Preview

At Sunday’s Money in the Bank pay-per-view, Paige puts her Divas Championship on the line against one-half of The Funkadactyls, Naomi.

A couple of weeks ago, Naomi picked up a victory over Paige, which has led to this title shot. More notably, Paige has had plenty of issues with the other Funkadactyl, Cameron. This past Friday, the issues between Paige and Cameron finally began to show between Paige and Naomi, who had shown a lot of respect to each other.

Michael’s Take: The women’s division is in shambles when we’ve got Naomi in a title match on PPV. She’s green as grass and Paige doesn’t exactly make me think “ring technician” when I watch her matches. I think Paige continues her streak here, as there’s no way WWE could give Naomi the title…right? Then again, when Paige won, I had to double check who exactly Paige was.

Alex’s Take: Naomi has been trying to win the Divas title for awhile and she’s had a few setbacks along the way. The WWE is also looking for a way to split up Cameron and Naomi especially now that they aren’t cheerleaders/valets for Brodus Clay anymore. I think Cameron accidently costs Naomi the title here and begins the separation of the two Divas with a feud in the near future. Paige retains.

Benjamin’s Take: Oh AJ Lee, Where Art Thou? I think Paige continues down the same road she’s been on since winning the championship. Getting beat up for 80 percent of the match, yet pulling out the win in the end.

Lance’s Take: I do not like divas match. A thought probably a lot of wrestling fans might agree with me with. I feel the Divas Division is under booked, and that women aren’t expected to do much wrestling. Naomi is a Diva that I can get behind. She has a great work ethic in the ring, and can actually wrestle. Her counterpart in Paige, is another Diva that I feel has the potential to bring wrestling back into the Divas Division. Should be a pretty good match, with Paige retaining. Naomi will get her shot, just not right now.

Luther’s Take: I really quite like Paige, maybe its because she is a good wrestler and a good character. Maybe its because she’s from the UK and I’m biased? Either way, Naomi is one of the best Divas in terms of actual in ring ability but I still think Paige has a bit more time as champion yet.

Mike’s Take: I’ve let my frustrations with Paige’s booking be known in the past. She’s a good wrestler with a good style, she plays her character fairly well, and she’s very attractive. She should be exactly what WWE is looking for, but for some reason, they book her in such a strange way. She either loses 90% of the match, then wins it without the help of a notable comeback, like most faces, or she just loses. It’s bad booking, and it’s why the Divas Champion is struggling to get over. Paige is going to win this match, hopefully she does it as WWE starts to change the formula for how her matches go, but I doubt that. I think we get the typical Paige win.
