Junkyard Dog (w/ Bertha) vs. Pete Doherty

I’ve never been a fan of JYD, but I’ll give him one thing — the fans really seemed to love him. Bertha (his mom) gets herself a nice seat next to the ring.

JYD gets underway before his music is even over with a headbutt, followed by a huge clothesline. Vince tells us he’s one of the most popular in the federation. Thanks, Vince.

More headbutts, as Vince calls him, “like a big bull mastiff.” Side note — those are huge. These are the things I think of while watching JYD matches.

Doherty goes to the top rope and takes the hard way down, with JYD throwing him into the middle of the ring.

Even more headbutts, because that’s what dogs do, right? Throw logic out here, folks.

That was an atomic drop that Vince called “a knee to the lower spine area.” I did say he was pretty good earlier. I was wrong.

Powerslam and unofficially, Doherty gets no offense in. The crowd has no clue if the match is over because the music didn’t start playing and no bells were rung. Now they realize he’s the winner and the crowd gives him a nice reaction.

Oh no. Bertha’s gonna dance. Yep.

JYD defeats Doherty via pinfall

1 out of 5 stars — Squash match with no interesting offense or storytelling.
