WWE Battleground Predictions: Chris Jericho vs. Bray Wyatt
By Mike Smith
This Sunday, the man who claims to be the best in the world at what he does, clashes with the man who claims to have that world in his hands, when Chris Jericho meets Bray Wyatt.

On the same action-packed Raw when AJ Lee returned to take back the Divas Championship from Paige, The Miz returned, and made a much bigger deal about his return than anybody else did. He wanted the WWE Universe to love him, but he was interrupted by a man that they actually do love, Y2J.
Y2J hit Miz with a Codebreaker and sent the crowd into a frenzy, and just as he was about to say his signature “Raw is Jericho” line, The Wyatt Family graphic hit the screen, the lights cut out, and when they came back on, Y2J was surrounded.
Y2J and the Wyatts have crossed paths a few times since then, with the latest being when Y2J rolled up Luke Harper for a win on Friday’s SmackDown. Now at Battleground, Y2J finally gets his hands on the leader of The Wyatt Family, in a much-anticipated clash.
Here are the predictions from Michael Dunlap, Lance Augustine, Jordan Campbell, Marcus Hagness, Matt Perri, Benjamin Raven, and Mike Smith, and don’t forget to leave your predictions in the comment section.
Michael’s Take: Psychology 101 for young wrestlers. The match itself will be fine and I’m hoping there’s some kind of screwy DQ finish so we can extend this feud. I’m not done listening to their promos yet!
Lance’s Take: I am definitely on the Bray Wyatt bandwagon. I love everything this guy does, and hope they push him to the moon. I have never been the biggest Jericho guy, but I respect him for what he has done and continues to do for the buisness. This match should be excellent of given enough time. I just hope there is a clean finish and not some goofy Wyatt run in. I feel like Bray would get a rub. Ill go Wyatt here, but once again seeing them square off at SummerSlam.
Jordan’s Take: When Chris Jericho returns to WWE, it is appointment television. The Jericho and Wyatt booking has been majestic. Both Jericho and Wyatt have been great on the microphone and that has added to the hype for this match.
But, let’s be honest, Wyatt needs a win.
After all, that is why he is placed in a booking with Jericho. Jericho is the perfect option to put Wyatt over as a heel. The WWE Universe loves Jericho. That is why a Wyatt victory over Jericho may carry more substance than his victory over John Cena. Wyatt defeating Jericho on Sunday is a must. Wyatt needs to be established as the top heel with WWE being short on impact Heels as of late.
Marcus’ Take: I was a little disappointed they put this match on the Battleground card to be honest. I wanted their first encounter to be at Summerslam after a nice build, this seems too rushed. I would’ve like Jericho to get back in the ring against Miz for his first time back out and possibly have Bray interfere in that match to further along their feud. But since this is happening I’d like to think that Bray goes over. I’d like to think they’re not going to have this just be a 3 week feud with a one-off match to end it which makes me think Jericho might steal one from Bray or win by DQ. My official prediction: Jericho wins by disqualification.
Matt’s Take: What is this feud even about? There’s no real build-up except for Jericho getting his butt kicked by these guys each week and there’s no heat whatsoever going in. Bray has mailed it in each week since Payback. His involvement at MITB was embarrassing (people climbing the ladder for the title and…Bray goes into Spider Mode while they climb away — REALLY?!) and I don’t know what role he’s gonna play on the main event card if the title goes from Cena to Rollins to Reigns. In any case, he’ll most likely get the win as it’s a matter of seniority and Bray desperately needs the win to legitimize himself.
Benjamin’s Take: Speaking of people on a roll, Bray Wyatt just keeps climbing the ladder and he gets the opportunity to work with another all-timer. Wyatt and Daniel Bryan had an amazing match at the Royal Rumble and I expect this one to be on that level.
This feud definitely isn’t going to be a one-match wonder so I’m curious to see what direction creative goes. I’m going to go with my gut and say Wyatt wins with Sister Abigail.
Mike’s Take: Y2J asked for an explanation as to why Bray and The Wyatt Family targeted him, but all he got was the vague answers that only Bray Wyatt can provide.
I think we will soon get an explanation from Bray, as these two move to a match at SummerSlam. Many seem to think Bray needs to win this match, but he doesn’t. Bray gets more mileage in a win over Y2J at the second biggest show of the year, with Y2J getting the win here. I’m taking Jericho.
