  • Rusev is a sleeper candidate for a WWE World Heavyweight Championship feud for Hell in a Cell.

He has been built to be incredibly strong since he began his run on the main roster in April, as he has not lost a match. Him not losing a match yet could be the reason to throw him into a feud for the belt, especially against Lesnar. A loss to him would bring the hero of the Russian Federation down to earth, but will also keep him strong since Brock is one of the more imposing characters than WWE has had in a long time.

WWE also wouldn’t have to turn either one of these guys to a face to make this work. Lesnar is so imposing and intimidating that he can blur the line between face and heel. Rusev can keep doing what he’s doing, but I don’t think you’re going to see the former Minnesota Viking player and his advocate, Paul Heyman, making any type of patriotic promos. It would be interesting to see how they would handle Rusev with a cut-down on the Russian pride and American hate promos.

Now, if Cena wins the belt and Rollins does not cash in, Rusev is a very serious threat at HIAC. Fans could certainly believe that he would beat the leader of the Cenation next month. It would also be pretty funny seeing him getting some cheers with the vicious booing that Cena receives at every show.

The only problem with Rusev winning is where does it put Rollins in all of this? The belt wouldn’t be on him for only a month so a face could win and the latter could cash in. It would be too rushed of a spotlight on him.

If Rusev doesn’t enter the title picture, he may still feud with Cena either way, as we discussed the other day.

He’ll be in the title picture one day and that could very well be next month’s PPV.
