WWE Rumors: Offer Extended To Samoa Joe
Impactwrestling.com
While Samoa Joe is set to return to Ring of Honor, the former TNA star is also receiving interest from several other companies. Reports have surfaced that WWE has submitted an offer to Samoa Joe.
Samoa Joe may be one step closer to joining the WWE.
According to a report on Thursday morning, WWE has made an offer to Samoa Joe. No details are known about WWE’s offer to Samoa Joe but there could be movement on a deal in the near future.
Samoa Joe is questionable fit for WWE. For one, WWE usually doesn’t pursue former TNA talents–Sting being the obvious exception–and if they do opt to pursue a former TNA superstar, the superstar is rarely used on WWE programming. Again, Sting would be the exception of that rule.

There are number of factors that would have to be determined before Samoa Joe joins WWE. For one, would Samoa Joe be interested in starting his WWE career on NXT?
During a recent interview, Samoa Joe indicated that he would be willing to start in NXT.
“I’ve never shied away from an opportunity to prove myself. Every promotion I’ve ever worked for, initially when I started out, never wanted me. I remember my first Ring of Honor show and [Gabe Sapolsky. Former ROH booker] told me, ‘Hey listen, we can’t afford a flight out from California every month, so it will probably be a one-off deal.’ And then walking back through the curtain after that first match and him going, ‘you’re on every show.’ I think when you do get to the point where you’re not willing to go out there and prove what you can do, I understand guys they feel strongly a certain way, that’s fine, I think it’s individual for everybody, but I know for me I’ve never shied away from an opportunity to prove myself anywhere.”
“I’ve always firmly believed that you can’t deny talent and cream always rises to the top. Those are two things you always hear clichés among all sports not just pro wrestling and it’s something that I firmly believe. At the end of the day, if you’ve got it you’re going to get there. You’ve got to find the opportunities, the doors and the windows you can find and do what you need to do.”

With Samoa Joe being willing to start in NXT with WWE, the next question becomes what role does the company envision Samoa Joe working in?
There has been speculation that WWE has interest in Samoa Joe as only a trainer and not a performer. Such a belief would follow a trend that WWE has created. Back in September, WWE had interest in Kurt Angle as a trainer and not a performer. Like Angle, Samoa Joe still has the desire of competing and may not sign with WWE if the company does not to bring him in as a performer.
Speaking of competing, Samoa Joe and former WWE superstar CM Punk teased a potential match against one another on twitter this week. During his interview, Joe was asked about a potential match with Punk.
“Time will tell and that’s really up to him and obviously his obligations to UFC. I know he’s training real hard for his upcoming fight but if he wants to throw down, if he wants to scrap, you can come over here and start off with me and see what’s left when you go into the octagon.”
Given that CM Punk is under contract with UFC on a multi-fight deal, the idea of match between Samoa Joe and CM Punk with any other promotion is a pipe dream at this point.
