Raw Fallout: Randy Orton Turns on The Authority

Randy Orton turned his back on The Authority Monday after he brutally attacked Seth Rollins to close out Raw.

The turn took place in the middle of a 2-on-1 handicap match where he teamed with Seth Rollins to face Roman Reigns. Amidst the match Rollins sent J&J Security, who were suspicious of Randy Orton, backstage after they got involved with him.

Later in the match Orton refused to tag an exhausted Rollins leading to him getting speared by Reigns, who would win the match shortly after. Orton then entered the ring and began to attack Rollins, even dragging him into the crowd and beating him further.

A fired-up Orton then beat Rollins towards the announce table where he RKO’d him through it.

Throughout the entire segment Orton kept yelling at Rollins that he wasn’t a part of his family and that he’d never re-join The Authority.

Orton had called out members of The Authority individually to start Raw but had said he was joking shortly after. Much to the doubt of J&J Security, Rollins had believed that Orton was joking. Orton’s comments only ignited the fire for the main-event, leading to his turn.

At WWE Fastlane many expected for Orton to turn babyface following his attack on The Authority but the two parties reconciled shortly after. However, many didn’t believe Orton genuinely re-joined The Authority as he hinted at breaking away for a few weeks after the pay-per-view. Orton even winked at the camera to close out a segment last week.

Orton’s turn comes at a good time as him genuinely being a part of The Authority didn’t make sense. How could he stay with them after they attacked him months ago leading to him missing a few months due to injury?

He’s also been receiving a lot of traction with the audience, which would help propel Rollin’s character as a heel further.

The feud is likely to spill into next weeks Smackdown as Orton has been advertised to appear on the show. But the bigger fallout of Orton’s attack will likely happen on next weeks Raw where Rollins and The Authority are expected to respond.

But it seems that two are headed for a match at WrestleMania 31.
