Damien Mizdow has over the past few months become one of the most over superstars in WWE, taking an initially laughable stunt double gimmick and transforming it into something fans can’t get enough of. And, Mizdow can add another prevalent supporter in his corner – The Rock. The Furious 7 star and 8-time WWE Champion responded to a tweet from Mizdow about his encounter with a fan suffering from Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, and was quick to praise his rise up the card:
When the Great One is taking an interest in your progress, you know you are heading in the right direction. The Rock is one of the biggest superstars in wrestling history, transcending the business into a box office megastar. His cameo at WrestleMania alongside Ronda Rousey against Triple H and Stephanie McMahon practically caused social media to explode at the awesomeness of that moment. Yet, it appears Mizdow also caught the Rock’s attention for his rapid growth and development.
There are little more motivating forces for a WWE superstar than to have a legend of The Rock’s stature publicly praise their efforts, and should be all Mizdow needs to build upon his recent face turn. He likely is heading towards a match against former boss the Miz at Extreme Rules following the shady result of their match on RAW, which will be a critical turning point in his career. Should the match be well-received and the crowd continue to get behind the popular star, it could cement a position in the upper mid-card, and potential championship opportunities along the way.
Damien Mizdow will never match the success of The Rock, but they certainly have similarities with regards to a charisma and strong relationship with the WWE audience. Mizdow has been the recipient of some of the biggest pops from crowds wherever the WWE have traveled in 2015, with only the biggest names on the roster outdoing him in that regard. If he follows the People’s Champions advice to keep evolving and keeping the fans invested in him, Mizdow could continue his electrifying ascension up the rankings for a long time to come.
