WWE Extreme Rules 2015: A Big Step for Dolph Ziggler
Dolph Ziggler has a prime opportunity to move himself into the WWE World title picture after WWE Extreme Rules if he can be what he says he is, “The Show-Stealer” once again.

Other than the WWE World Heavyweight Championship match with Seth Rollins vs. Randy Orton, I think Dolph Ziggler vs. Sheamus is the next most important match for any single WWE superstar. Ziggler looked to be getting the push that he and the fans have wanted for some time after his amazing performance at last year’s WWE Survivor Series match against Team Authority.
Since then, he’s really been just caught in the background looking at other stars getting the opportunity that he earned. He had a lot of mixed matches over the past couple of month’s involving the WWE Intercontinental Championship but nothing that has materialized into anything that should have moved him up the rankings.
While I am happy to see the WWE finally giving the Intercontinental Championship the attention it deserves, I feel that Ziggler should have moved past that title and on to bigger things. Now they have him in what was going to be an interesting match-up against the newly repackaged and heel Sheamus.
I like Sheamus and think he can have very good matches with most other wrestlers. Having him up against Ziggler should bring a solid match to put on the middle of the card to get the crowd hot for the main event. Now I was looking forward to this match—notice the word “was.” The idea of a “Kiss Me Arse” Match kind of took the attention away for me. However, I still think it is an important match for The Show-Off.
Ziggler needs to go over in this match and he needs to look very good doing so. Sheamus can lose this match and still sell himself as being the big bad bully that he’s presenting for the crowd, which is a beauty of being a heel. Ziggler needs to take everything The Celtic Warrior dishes out and make it look brutal. His comeback from a brutal beating needs to be convincing and big—much like his Survivor Series finish.
I’m expecting this feud to end after this event or no longer then Payback. With a great showing by Ziggler and no one else to put him up against after his story with Sheamus—why not put him against the WWE World Heavyweight Champion, Seth Rollins?
Ziggler has played the “Me vs. the World” role very well before—it’s what got him into the match at Survivor Series. He’s played to the crowd well with that same attitude. Because of his campaigning on Twitter to the WWE Universe to make noise for who they want to see on the show, it has gotten him over with the fans.
Moving Ziggler on after Extreme Rules or the next event (WWE Payback) and into the main event scene could bring a lot of great matches with Rollins for the Title. Put these two in a cage, in a ladder match, 2-out of-three falls or even a mini-Iron Man match and they will bring the house down. It will allow for Seth Rollins to continue to build himself up to a legitimate World Champion and slowly build back up Roman Reigns into the main event picture again by not pushing him right back into the fan’s faces.
The potential loss of Daniel Bryan is a possibility and that would be a major loss for the WWE. He is the number two babyface of the WWE no matter if the higher-ups want to admit it or not. If he is gone for a long period again, they will need a new face to step up. Enter Ziggler, who would be as good as anyone on the roster to move right in to that role.
