17) Dean Ambrose – WWE United States Championship (1 time)

There was a time when Dean Ambrose could have been about 8-10 spots higher on this list. His feud with Seth Rollins seemingly put both men on the map in WWE last summer. Many saw Rollins as a top heel and the Lunatic Fringe as a top face. Months later, Ambrose is stuck in the mid-card.

What really hurt Ambrose was losing PPV matches to Rollins and Bray Wyatt. It took until this past Sunday’s Extreme Rules PPV to get a win at a big show for the first time since the Shield split last June.

If WWE changes their use of Ambrose, he has the potential to be much higher on the card. However, that doesn’t seem to be coming anytime soon.
