Being that Rob Van Dam won Money in the Bank as a babyface, he announced his cash-in in advance. He would challenge John Cena for the WWE Championship at ECW One Night Stand in 2006.

Being that this was in the Hammerstein Ballroom, a small venue in New York City used for ECW events in the past, this made for an excellent place to give RVD his moment as champion.
