Enzo Amore & Big Cass Should Debut at WWE SummerSlam

With SummerSlam in Brooklyn and the WWE tag team division dangerously thin, now is the perfect time to bring Enzo Amore & Big Cass to the main roster…

WWE invades Brooklyn for the SummerSlam weekend, which will in turn rope in NXT with the Takeover: Brooklyn event. This should be one of the best shows of the developmental territory’s history, with Finn Balor defending the NXT Championship against Kevin Owens in a ladder match and Bayley looking to ascend to the summit of the women’s division in a title match with Sasha Banks. However, one glaring omission has been made regarding the third championship bout of the night.

Blake & Murphy will defend their NXT Tag Team Championships against the Vaudevillains, which in most situations would be considered a fine idea with great potential. But, this match will be eaten alive by the Brooklyn crowd because it does not involve the hometown heroes Enzo Amore & Colin Cassady. In spite of them being screwed out of the titles at the last Takeover event due to Alexa Bliss’ interference, they find themselves outside of the picture heading into their home event, which appears at face value an unbelievable oversight.

Yet, this could actually be less of an oversight, and actually the perfect opportunity to bring NXT’s most over tag team to the main roster at SummerSlam. Enzo & Big Cass have been an amazing asset to NXT due to their phenomenal charisma and big personalities. Charisma in the tag team division has been lacking for years to the significant detriment of any of their feuds and contests, and they would inject life to a part of WWE that has suffered terribly.

The clear signal of the dreadful state of the tag team division currently is the match that will take place at SummerSlam, a Fatal Four-Way between Prime Time Players, the New Day, Los Matadores and the Lucha Dragons. If your division is meaningful and taken seriously by those backstage and the fans, you would not find yourselves stuck in a throwaway, convoluted title match. PTP are the champs, New Day their main rivals, and Los Matadores and Lucha Dragons have been thrown into the mix to add some cool spots and flips. It will probably be a good match, but has no consequence.

So, why not inject some life into that division and make it a component of the roster worth watching by adding Enzo & Big Cass to the mix? Do an angle where Los Matadores, who are for the most part a joke team that have zero chance of winning the belts, get injured or taken out by New Day to increase their chances of regaining the belts. Then at SummerSlam, the three teams make their way to the ring, believing that is has now been changed for a triple threat match for the titles.

Then, Triple H comes out on the stage, stating that a fourth team has been located to fill the spot vacated by Los Matadores, and the Brooklyn crowd become incredibly excited. The music of Enzo Amore & Colin Cassady blares through the arena, getting a massive pop from the SummerSlam audience. Enzo has a mic in his hand, doing the awesome promo work he has been famed for in NXT to announce their arrival and belittle all the opponents in the ring. And not only do they compete in the tag team title match, they win the belts in front of their hometown fans.

That is the perfect way to make the tag team division a focal point of intrigue once again, with Enzo & Big Cass taking on a similar role of the New Age Outlaws. Their mic work will gloss over any shortcomings they might have in the ring, particularly Enzo, but Cassady is a complete package and excellent worker, so they will have no problem entertaining the crowd both with their words and their action in the ring. If this does not take place, then their omission from the Takeover: Brooklyn card is probably the most nonsensical decision NXT has ever made.

But, I feel confident that Enzo & Big Cass will be making a lot of opponents feel SAWFT on the main roster very soon.
