Who Should WWE NXT Sign Next?

We take a look at who should be the next signing for Triple H and NXT.

The current NXT roster is without doubt one of the best collections of talent in the history of WWE and the “developmental” brand. But of late, there’s been a lack of big name indy talent making the move to NXT.

We’re only days away from seeing the official debut of the man formally known as Uhaa Nation, Apollo Crews. Apollo was one of the most exciting men to watch in indy companies across the globe.

With the amount of talent that is either now split between NXT and the main roster, or has moved up to the main roster full-time, it’s time to look at one name who could make massive strides by signing on the dotted line.

A man regarded as one of the best technical wrestlers in the world.

In 2014 he was voted by readers of Wrestling Observer Newsletter as the Best Technical Wrestler.

A man who has won titles across the world, and currently spends the majority of his time wrestling for Pro Wrestling Noah in Japan.

The man we’re talking about is Zack Sabre Jr.

Having won his first title at the age of 18, it’s not hard to see why he’s regarded as one of the best in the world.

The now 28-year-old Sabre, a British native, is just what the WWE, and NXT, is missing.

He’s a man who understands, and uses, the grappling and submission style better than any of his peers, using the arm bar as his submission finisher.

Zack is a man who can connect with any audience he performs in front of.

Tours of Japan are frequently punctuated with trips to America to appear for Evolve (his recent Evolve title match with Timothy Thatcher is one of the best technical matches you’ll see), he’s become a staple of PWG cards, as well as appearing in his home country for Progress Wrestling and across Europe for the likes of WXW.

It’s hard not to be impressed with the talent he brings to the ring. Regularly drawing comparisons with the likes of Bret Hart or Kurt Angle, there’s nobody in WWE who currently practices this style to such a high standard.

Not since the days of the aforementioned Angle has anyone brought the technical style to WWE and made a connection with the crowd. Having seen his matches with, a pre WWE Daniel Bryan, British legend Doug Williams or the current darling of the indy world Chris Hero it’s hard not to be impressed.

An NXT feud with current NXT Champion Finn Balor would bring some classic matches between the two men.

Zack’s style would see him fair well against the majority of the NXT roster. Under the added tutelage of British legend William Regal the sky would definitely be the limit.
