NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn Predictions: Baron Corbin vs. Samoa Joe
Who will win the match of Baron Corbin vs. Samoa Joe at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn? Find out what the Daily DDT staff has to say.
One of the under-card matches for NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn will feature Baron Corbin vs. Samoa Joe. This will be the first TakeOver match for Joe.
The build for this match began on NXT TV a few weeks ago when Corbin demanded someone give him a challenge in the ring. Joe would come out and respond, saying he will take him down. The two then brawled on the show and the following one, thus setting up this match.

Now it’s time to get to who actually wins this match. What does the Daily DDT staff have to say about it? Check out our predictions for this NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn match below:
Brandon’s Prediction:
Corbin has to lose eventually, right? RIGHT?
Prediction: Samoa Joe
Callum’s Prediction:
It is refreshing to finally see Baron Corbin be involved in a meaningful, competitive clash on television, and it could hardly be against a better opponent. Samoa Joe embodies the dominant, aggressive approach that really makes a monster standout, rather than Corbin who just has a firm punch and a finishing maneuver. Joe wears down his victims, toys with them, which occasionally allows them into the contest, but has earned him legions of fans. Corbin’s fan club members could probably be counted on one hand, and I expect Joe to put him in his place at Takeover.
Prediction: Samoa Joe
Carl’s Prediction:
This will be an absolute war. The New York crowd will be well behind Joe and i expect them to boo Corbin out of the building. Who benefits more from the win? It’s got to be Corbin. A win here could see him pushed into the main event title picture, there’s a potential massive heel gap up there if Kevin Owens is going to be more main roster in the coming months.
Prediction: Baron Corbin
Evan G’s Prediction:
Samoa Joe’s time in NXT has been somewhat disappointing. His feud with Kevin Owens was cut short by Owens being on the main roster, but now he is going up against Baron Corbin the King of the Squash Match. Joe is an established star who will give Corbin his longest match, but I think WWE is so high on Corbin that he will prevail.
Prediction: Baron Corbin
Jordan’s Prediction:
Corbin is presented with a great opportunity to increase his stock with a match against Joe. Corbin’s booking of late has been dull but he could be in line for a major push with a victory over Joe on Saturday. However, I don’t see that happening.
Prediction: Samoa Joe
Rob’s Prediction:
This is a tough call for me. Corbin is being built as this monster heel but Joe is also highly valued. The former ROH star’s run in NXT has been disappointing this summer, though. Does that mean they give him a big win? I don’t think so. Joe will be putting Corbin over, as the latter may move onto an NXT Championship feud with Finn Balor.
Prediction: Baron Corbin
Teddy’s Prediction:
Samoa Joe continues his dominance with a win over Baron Corbin. Corbin puts up a good fight but Joe pulls out the win and gets closer to a NXT title shot.
Prediction: Baron Corbin
Travis’ Prediction:
Well, at least if you go to the bathroom there won’t be a threat of missing the entire match. Corbin is likely to have the longest match of his NXT career against Samoa Joe, and perhaps his most devastating defeat, as well. Corbin is in an ugly position right now, scoring numerous quick victories but not seeming to move up the card. That’s what I like to call the “Palumbo Position” (Crimson was in that spot for TNA. Look how that turned out.), and usually means creative has soured on you and will use your streak of wins to get another wrestler over. In other words, Samoa Joe will make an example out of Corbin; choke him out, and probably humiliate him in the process. The sad thing is that Joe hasn’t really been impressive, either, but there’s more invested in him than Corbin at this point.
Prediction: Samoa Joe
It looks like we’re at 4-4 for this. Who do you think prevails?
