Did Bayley Win the NXT Women’s Championship at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn?
Heading into NXT TakeOver Brooklyn the Divas Revolution was well under way, as much as it was running riot Raw and SmackDown, it was here in NXT that it began!
Sasha Banks headed into the Barclays Center as the champion. Bayley came into the match on the back of a winning streak against Emma and Charlotte, before beating Becky Lynch in the number one contenders match on last weeks NXT TV.

With this Women’s Championship match listed as the co main event you just knew it would live up to all the hype.
In the promo package for the match it was good to see the background of the other members of the Four Horsewomen, Sasha, Becky and Charlotte, move up to the main roster, whilst showing how devastated Bayley was to not be with them.
Over 15,000 fans inside the Barclays Center blew the roof off as both women entered the arena.
Bayley came out wearing the famous Dusty Rhodes polka dots on her headband. It was also amazing to hear there’s going to be the Dusty Rhodes memorial tag team tournament.
Sasha came out in the Escalade, with 4 giant members of personal security, doing her best to intimidate her opponent. The crowd is so hot for this, as they have been all night.
After trading early ground and pound the two women trade near falls, I’ve never heard a crowd this hot!
Bayley gets the upper hand as Sasha bails out of the ring. Bayley hits the drop kick through the ropes and they end up back in the ring. Sasha takes control, locking in the submission holds and trying to humiliate her opponent.
Double knees on Bayley, positioned on the top rope gets a 2 count for the Champ. Sasha talks trash (channeling her inner Chris Jericho) before focusing on Bayley’s previously injured hand.Using the ring steps to trap her hand and kicking it.
These 2 women deserve the “This is Wrestling” and “This is Awesome” chants from the crowd. This match is building into a classic.
A massive dive to the outside by Sasha sees the Boss well in control, but Bayley counters and throws her over the top rope to buy some time.
Seeing them trade forearms, punches and axe handles in the ring is a million miles away from the style you’d see from the main roster Divas. Bayley does her best to hit the Bayley to Belly but just can’t hit it.
Sasha counters with a massive Bank Statement submission, even stomping on Bayley’s injured hand as she reaches for the ropes. A quick reversal looks like it may get the win for the challenger. Can this match get any more awesome?? We’re about to realise the answer is yes!!
A massive Bayley to Belly gets her a 2 count, i actually thought that was the end of the match. The arena fills with another “This is Awesome” chant. This crowd have watched so much good stuff tonight but this is the pinnacle.
Bayley sets Sasha up on the top rope. Will we see a top rope Bayley to Belly? Sasha manages to push her off, Bayley looks out of it. Sasha hits big knees from the top but Bayley manages to kick out at 2. This isn’t just one of the best women’s matches you’ll see this year, it’s one of the best matches all together!!
After trading elbows and punches, Bayley hits an awesome reverse frankensteiner and the Bayley to Belly to take the 3 count.
Bayley is your new NXT Women’s Champion!
The rest of the Four Horsewomen come to the ring. Becky Lynch and Charlotte Bayley on their shoulders. Sasha slide back in the ring and the 2 women embrace, before all four of them share a mid ring hug. This is the night that they all come of age, the Divas Revolution is here whether you like it or not!
Throughout this match the crowd was so hot. These 2 women showed why the Women are billed as equals to the men on NXT. That’s how things need to be in the whole of WWE going forward!
