Sasha Banks: 3 Reasons Why She’s the Best Diva in the Business Today
If I was asked to describe Sasha Banks with a single word, I would say, “perfect”. Because, let’s be honest, she is.

Ever since Trish Stratus retired from WWE after winning her seventh WWE Women’s Championship eight years ago, the Divas division has been desperate for a crop of ladies to carry the torch handed down from Trish, Lita and the others who set the standard for women’s wrestling.
Then, the rebrand of WWE’s NXT program changed it all. Not only did we get a fresh breed of women that are beautiful, they’re tough and great in between the ropes on a nightly basis.
Between the first NXT Women’s Champion Paige, current NXT Women’s Champion Bayley, Becky Lynch and the current number one contender for the Diva’s title, Charlotte, the Divas division has found new life and has started a new “revolution” of women in the business.

Then, there’s Sasha Banks.
To use the most recent example, Banks defended the NXT Women’s Championship for the final time during NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn on Aug. 22. After Bayley hit the ring, Banks’ music hit and the scene was set perfectly. Banks was already becoming a mainstay on Raw with the Divas, so this was set as her last appearance on NXT as champion.
Her music hit, and instead of walking down the ramp, a black Escalade rolled into the Barclays Arena. Banks got out of the car, surrounding by a security team and a crowd amped for the co-main event of the evening. Yeah, a women’s match was the co-main event.
You could just feel Banks’ attitude and swagger as she walked to ring with the NXT Women’s title around her waist.
Between the car, the usual glasses she wears to ring, the strut, the security holding the ropes for her as she entered the ring, I literally said out loud, “She’s absolutely perfect. It’s amazing.”
Not only does Banks have the perfect character, she backs it up in the ring on a nightly basis. Like I tweeted out after Bayley defeated Banks to win the title at TakeOver, I don’t know if it was the best women’s match I’ve ever seen, but it’s pretty high up on the list.
But still, what makes Banks so perfect?
1. She’s amazing outside the ring too
I’ve probably watched this seven times while you’re reading this, and it’s awesome every single time. Like I’ve mentioned before, Banks is a part of the “Divas Revolution” and a part of the rising growth in black performers. Along with The New Day and NXT newcomer Apollo Crews, Banks is a apart of a fantastic group of stars who are only getting better by the day (no pun intended).
The thing that makes Banks so good is that, not only does her in-ring character have the look and charisma, her actual personality is fantastic. She’s hilarious and is always interacting with fans on social media.
2. Inside the ropes, she’s a true Bo$$
Ask yourself, what made the Divas before this new era of women so good? It’s simple: They all had a kick-a** demeanor and took on all comers. Why did we adore Trish and Lita so much? Because they were awesome to watch perform. Hell, Trish took a top-rope powerbomb from Bubba Dudley through a table before she got into the ring full-time. Sure, she was flat-out gorgeous, but she got better and better and eventually became the best the business has ever seen.
Banks is an in-ring technician, just like the late great Eddie Guerrero, Banks’ idol. Personally, I see so many similarities between Banks and Guerrero. Eddie was a master as a face or heel, and no matter which one he was, you loved him. How many times did you wind up non-stop laughing watching Eddie perform? He worked a crowd like few could before him. Banks is a natural heel with her persona and character, but she’s so good at it, everyone loves her for it. (See Owens, Kevin.)
3. She’s a Triple H product, so you know she’s in good hands
I may be in the minority with this one, but I’m a huge Triple H guy. I know, he’s the boss’s daughter’s husband and he’s “been handed everything”, but there’s no denying that The Game loves NXT. His intro to NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn brought an array of chills. He loves NXT. It’s his product, and he’ll do whatever it takes to make it the best television you’re going to see.
Banks, along with the other members of the “Four Horsewomen”, are in tight with Triple H. Banks and Charlotte were two of the ladies in The Game’s WrestleMania XXX entrance against Daniel Bryan. Why did Banks and Bayley go on later in the TakeOver card? Because Triple H knows how good these women are at what they do. He’s a father figure to them, and when the company truly become his product, you’re going to see a better product than the one you see now with Randy Orton and Sheamus wrestling each other 4,532 times in a two-week span.
Sure, Charlotte appears to be on her way to becoming the first member of the “Divas Revolution” to win the Divas title. Nikki Bella’s time at the top has become dull (and has become an infamous Twitter hashtag), and it’s time for some fresh blood to carry the torch of the Divas division.
But, rest assured, Sasha Banks’ time at the top on the main cards is coming, and it’ll come at the perfect time.
