  1. Parking Lot Brawl

In the heyday of SmackDown, we saw a number of different and unique match types. Most of these surround the United States Championship division, which at times felt more important than its main event scene. Best of 7 Series for the title made it mean something. During that time we were also introduced to the Parking Lot Brawl.

The Parking Lot Brawl took  the idea of a wrestling ring and recreated it. The ring instead of being in the arena, was in a backstage parking lot. Instead of the ring being a mat, it was solid concrete. Ropes were replaced with cars, weapons to be used to destroy your opponent. And other superstars surrounded the newly created “ring” in order to give it more of a fight feel than an actual wrestling match feel.

The Parking Lot brawl was the perfect gimmick match for John Cena to use during his “Dr. of Thuganomics” days. When he and Eddie Guerrero met in the first parking lot brawl, something about it felt right. The two gave the fight meaning, and everybody knew that somebody was going to get really hurt.

We haven’t seen a lot of parking lot brawls in WWE history, with John Cena and JBL squaring off in the other one, but this match type was innovative, dangerous and fun to watch.
