The Inevitable Turn

The second fans saw Finn Balor and Samoa Joe paired up in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, everyone knew what was going to happen.

Balor won his first NXT Championship defense at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn over Kevin Owens. Joe also got his first-ever NXT live special win at the event over Baron Corbin. No one knew who Balor would feud with next or who Joe would battle but their pairing has made it a little obvious.

Following their win on last night’s episode of WWE NXT, Joe and Balor will move onto NXT TakeOver: Respect to compete in the DRTTC semi-finals. Along the way, we’ve seen Joe make subtle hints at wanting the NXT title. Add this in with no clear No. 1 contender, and you have a match made in heaven.

Joe is probably going to turn on Balor at TakeOver and set up an epic match for NXT TakeOver: London, which will be the second-biggest event for the brand. Like they did with Balor vs. Owens, they’ll want the biggest names possible on the card. This will include a stellar main event of these two former independent stars putting on a classic match.

How the turn happens will be interesting to watch. We’ll also have to see if NXT chooses to put the title on Joe by December.
