WWE will be hosting a live event tonight from Madison Square Garden in New York City, NY (WWE MSG).
The company has had plenty of rich history-making moments and events over the years at the world’s most famous arena. From WrestleMania 1, WrestleMania 20, John Cena’s epic 2008 Royal Rumble return and more, there have been plenty of things to look back on.

The most recent WWE event that was broadcast from MSG was the 2011 Survivor Series pay-per-view. It featured the traditional Survivor Series 5-on-5 elimination match, a bout for the WWE Championship, the World Heavyweight Championship and a star-studded tag team match.
Here’s the results from the PPV.
– Dolph Ziggler (c) defeated John Morrison to retain the WWE United States Championship.
– Beth Phoenix (c) defeated Eve Torres to retain the WWE Divas Championship.
– Team Barrett (Wade Barrett, Cody Rhodes, Jack Swagger, Hunico and Dolph Ziggler) defeated Team Orton (Randy Orton, Sheamus Mason Ryan, Kofi Kingston and Sin Cara).
– Big Show defeated Mark Henry (c) by disqualification for the World Heavyweight Championship.
– CM Punk defeated Alberto Del Rio (c) via submission to win the WWE Championship.
– The Rock and John Cena defeated The Miz and R-Truth.
Survivor Series 2011 was when Wade Barrett (now known as King Barrett) had a decent place on the card. He was seen as a rising star and feuded with Randy Orton during the fall of 2011. This win over the Viper’s team should have propelled the multi-time WWE Intercontinental Champion to better things but instead turning into consecutive losses to Orton.

Show and Henry, who still match up here and there today, wrestled in a lackluster match for the World Heavyweight Championship. Despite Show not winning the title here, he was successful at the WWE TLC PPV.
This Survivor Series also saw CM Punk getting a title win that started the longest modern-day WWE Championship reign. It would go on for 434 days until Rock ended the streak at WWE Royal Rumble 2013.
Speaking of the People’s Champion, the obvious big highlight from this PPV was Rock having his first WWE match since 2004. This was also a stepping stone to Rock vs. Cena at WrestleMania 28, which had been created already.
Their tag team match was a decent bout that saw Cena get pummeled by Miz and Truth throughout. Rock would get the tag towards the end and take out the heels for the victory. He would then Rock Bottom Cena after the match concluded to further their WrestleMania feud.
This Survivor Series PPV received generally good reviews. Could tonight’s WWE MSG show top it?
