WWE World Heavyweight Championship Tournament First Round:

Alberto Del Rio w/Zeb Colter vs. Stardust

Result: Del Rio def. Stardust via pinfall (Double Stomp).

Rating: 2.5 out of 5 stars

Zeb Colter calls the U.K. The divided Kingdom and an army of haters. He talks about how everybody in the United Kingdom hates each other and hates the English. Del Rio starts talking about uniting Manchester without hate in a really weird promo.

Del Rio takes early control in the matchup, but Stardust clotheslines Del Rio to the outside. Stardust reaches to the outside and Del Rio leaps up and hits an enziguiri on Stardust. He tosses Stardust into the barricade, whose shoulder is in pain as we take a commercial.

Back from the break and Stardust fights his way back into it. Del Rio gets the armbar over the top rope on Stardust. A tornado DDT plants Del Rio but Stardust only gets a two count. Del Rio starts calling for the armbreaker, but Stardust hits a Disaster Kick. Del Rio gets his hand on the bottom rope at two. Del Rio gets Stardust in position and hits the double stomp in the corner for the pinfall victory.

Evan’s Note: Remember when the U.S. title was extremely elevated by John Cena and even Seth Rolins? That time is gone now, as the MexAmerica alliance and the lack of reaction to Del Rio shows the title is dead in the water. Let’s hope for a Kalisto victory against Del Rio on Monday.

A recap of Becky Lynch’s victory over Paige on RAW is played, where Lynch got the victory but Paige got the last laugh by locking in the PTO on Lynch on top of the announce table.
