Sheamus – 25%

Ah yes. Sheamus. The directionless Irishman who has walked around with his gold briefcase for what seems like an eternity. Well, it may be time for him to ditch the briefcase for some actual gold, in the form of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

The only reason Sheamus has lower odds than Reigns to win the title this Sunday is because of WWE’s supposed plans to stay the course and give Reigns the strap. If that had never been reported, I would probably be led to believe that Sheamus is actually the favorite this Sunday.

Logically, it makes a ton of sense to have him cash in on Roman Reigns to become the new champion. First, Sheamus has done absolutely nothing lately, as he has rotted away in a tag team with King Barrett. Secondly, WWE obviously believes in Sheamus as a main-event talent or they wouldn’t have given him the briefcase to begin with. Third, as mentioned with Kevin Owens, WWE is in desperate need of a main-event heel, and they have one in the form of Sheamus, who is currently standing by twiddling his thumbs, waiting for his opportunity. And fourth, having Sheamus cash in on Reigns after Reigns is battered and bruised from wrestling two matches in one night is a no-brainer as far as cash-ins go.

Not only would his cash-in create a new main-event heel, it would prevent fans from becoming sour on Roman Reigns again, because the predictability of him winning the tournament would be cancelled out by the cash-in. Plus, he would feud with Sheamus over the coming months and that would likely get more people on Reigns’ side because, let’s be honest, no one likes Sheamus.

Sheamus cashing in would be the most interesting direction for WWE to go in, which is why I give it a solid 25% chance of happening, right behind them sticking with Roman as champion.
