10. Neville
Last Rank: 9
Week Highlights: Won an uninspired six-man tag match, as well as an uninspired singles match. Was part of a winning team in a Survivor Series elimination match.
After weeks, if not months, of being put in matches just because the WWE needed someone who could bring excitement to otherwise unexciting circumstances, it was hinted to on Raw that Neville could be entering a program with the Miz. That feud could be a lot of fun if handled properly.
9. Tyler Breeze
Last Rank: –
Week Highlights: Made pay-per-view debut at Survivor Series and picked up first pay-per-view victory against Dolph Ziggler. Sacrificed by Kevin Owens.
Prince Pretty is trending upwards even though KO abandoned him on Raw. His victory at Survivor Series had shades of Fandago’s Wrestlemania win a few years back. That may bode as a bad omen for the future, but Breeze is off to a good start in his main roster run.
8. Charlotte
Last Rank: –
Week Highlights: Successfully defended the Diva’s Championship at Survivor Series. Performed her father’s trademark strut on Raw.
Gee golly, the Diva’s Champion was featured on all the last three main WWE shows. The title defense at Survivor Series wasn’t great, but also wasn’t terrible, and the rematch on Raw proved to be a technical wrestling delight before it broke down into a brawl. If this keeps up, the feud between Charlotte and Paige will actually have some legs to stand on that aren’t the result of a verbal cheap shot.
7. Alberto Del Rio
Last Rank: 5
Week Highlights: Lost semifinals match in WWE World Heavyweight Championship Tournament. Antagonized by Jack Swagger for trying to improve international relations.
Now that the WWE World Heavyweight Championship Tournament is over, Del Rio can actually attempt to defend the U.S. Championship… if that’s something that actually matters anymore. The feud with Jack Swagger is commendable from a consistency standpoint; now let’s see if they can make the stakes worth the contention of the U.S. Title.
6. Kevin Owens
Last Rank: 4
Week Highlights: Lost semifinals match in WWE World Heavyweight Championship Tournament. Forsook tag team partner to preserve ego.
Owens and Ambrose gave us a taste of what could be an engaging rivalry heading into TLC. Yes, Owens had three losses this past week—two of which by DQ—but he has kept an intense presence throughout, not coming off as any weaker of a competitor. Like Del Rio, since his Tournament days are behind him, he’ll ideally return to building up the Intercontinental Title.
