10. Jack Swagger
Last Rank: –
Week Highlights: Attacked Del Rio with a chair on SmackDown. Chased him around some more on Raw.
Jack Swagger is back, and he’s carving out a nice little feud with Alberto Del Rio. Given how blatantly the chair came into play on SmackDown, it’s more than likely that the two will face off in a Chairs Match at TLC for the US Championship. All in all, their rivalry is developing at a good pace, and Swagger is playing the role of the good guy quite well if you ignore the fact that this feud started because he was upset with his old, xenophobic buddy joining forces with an immigrant.
9. The Dudley Boyz and Tommy Dreamer
Last Rank: –
Week Highlights: Brought back a legend. Shoved Bray Wyatt through a table.
It was looking a little questionable for the Dudleys as to how they’d remain relevant, but they seem to have landed a solid program with the Wyatts. Bringing back Tommy Dreamer was a welcomed surprise, and given that the Wyatts currently have four members, we could see another ECW alumnus make a return to even out the sides.
The Dudleys continue to play the nostalgia card, but they’re playing it in all the right ways.
8. The Wyatt Family
Last Rank: 5
Week Highlights: Put Bubba Ray Dudley through a table, igniting an entertaining rivalry.
On paper it may not be as glamorous as feuding with, say, the Undertaker, but this could be just what the Wyatts need to get back on track after their loss at Survivor Series. An impending hardcore-themed match against the Dudleys and Tommy Dreamer is the ideal environment for the Wyatt Family to unleash their own brand of chaos.
7. Paige
Last Rank: –
Week Highlights: Picked up a victory over Becky Lynch, proceeded to mess with her mind.
This may be the most fascinating angle for Paige since her main roster debut: brainwashing. Playing the part of the manipulative puppet master fits Paige perfectly and adds a new spin to her feud with Charlotte.
6. Charlotte
Last Rank: 8
Week Highlights: Took following in her father’s footsteps to the next level.
It only took one kip-up for Charlotte to finally show some engaging personality. It’s arguable that using dirty tactics is pushing the “My father is Ric Flair” envelope too far, but it’s a lot more effective in establishing Charlotte as a believable champion than having her just say “WOOO!” all the time.
