WWE WrestleMania 32: Can The Rock Save the Main Event?

Can The Rock save WrestleMania 32?
WrestleMania 32 is coming up fast with only a month left to wait. WWE still needs to set up some more storylines, but one thing that is set in stone is the ever so precious main event. Of course, Card Subject Change is a thing, but it doesn’t seem likely that it will be changed. Even with Dean Ambrose challenging Triple H for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship next week on RAW won’t do anything to change things. A triple threat would be a long shot, so we’ll most likely witness Roman Reigns vs Triple H. A match that I believe will be good, but many members of the WWE Universe are not thrilled.
Roman Reings does not sit well with most of the Hardcore audience. Mainly due to how horribly he is booked by creative. He’s shown the capability of putting on good or even great matches. His match with Brock Lesnar in the main event of WrestleMania 32 was very good, and it helped that Seth Rollins cashed in Money in the Bank. However, fans still don’t want to cheer The Big Dog. Now the question can be asked of how WWE can possibly save the main event? The Rock could be one way. But it could also not work out at all.

One way The Rock can help save the main event is to start helping out Roman Reigns on RAW. He and Triple H have been rivals forever, and wow what do you know Roman Reigns is feuding him. They are also cousins, so it looks good to help out family. By helping Reigns he could be his manager, taking care of the mic duties. The People’s Champ has all the say in his promos, as we just witnessed a few weeks ago where he talked for over 20 minutes insulting wrestlers with much vulgar, and even interviewed a dude dressing up as Hulk Hogan. That probably did not sit well with Vince, but as mentioned The Rock does what he wants. If he is able to do most of Reigns talking, us fans won’t have to worry about what “great” lines creative has given Roman that week.
Plus Reigns can play off The Rock, and cause a huge amount of frustration for HHH. Him being in Reigns corener for the match can also be very beneficial. This could also lead to the glorious victory for Reigns, or maybe he shcoks the world and turns heel on his own cousin. Adding The Rock could lead to many interesting stories being told, and help save the main event.

However, we all know how well the last time WWE decided to have the former Nation of Domination leader help get Reigns over as a face. When he won the 2015 Royal Rumble match, Reigns revived a chorus of boos from the Philadelphia crowd. It also started the “#cancelwwenetwork” trend. While the Network still has plenty of subscribers, it did send a message to WWE. Reigns looked like he was slated to slay the Beast Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 31, but Seth Rollins cashed in Money in the Bank successfully. Had the massive outrage not happened, Reigns would’ve most likely won the title from Lesnar clean.
So since they tried this once, who’s to say that it will somehow work a second time? Fans may view this as another desperate attempt to get us to support Reigns. Even though The Rock is well beloved, he still received those boos for trying to help out his cousin at the Royal Rumble. It can also just make Reigns look weak if Rocky does too much of the heavy lifting. Maybe getting fans to think that maybe he should just be challenging Triple H instead.
So the answer to the question is maybe. And honestly, this is a pretty big hypothetical anyways. Anything can happen in wrestling as it actually can be very unpredictable. But it seems unlikely that The Rock will play any part in helping Reigns as we’ve seen nothing on RAW or SmackDown that would indicate so.
