WWE WrestleMania 32: Kevin Owen vs. Sami Zayn Can Steal the Show

Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn are on a potential collision course as we head to WrestleMania.

On last night’s episode of Monday Night Raw, Kevin Owens was faced with a match against Neville. The pair of them had contested a few matches in recent months and had put together some pretty good outings. This latest match was a step above anything they had done before, Kevin Owens won it in the end, but Neville had put up a good showing and made the Intercontinental Champion sweat a little with some amazing aerial offence. After winning Owens attacked Neville once again, just as he was about to hit a powerbomb onto the ring apron some familiar music hit. The Chicago crowd instantly knew who was coming and popped for him, big time. Sami Zayn was here!

The last time we saw Sami in any kind of main roster action was at the Royal Rumble. Sami entered the match as a surprise entrant and eliminated Owens after a few minutes of action between the pair. Zayn managed to get the better of Owens on Raw and clear him from the ring, saving Neville from a beating. In an interview after Raw, Sami explained how he had to sit back and watch Owens overtake him as a big star on Raw while he’d been out injured. Now Sami is back to get revenge.

Rewind the clock a little, Zayn and Owens had a short but brutal feud over the NXT title before Owens had moved up to the main roster. Rewind a little further and two men named Kevin Steen and (Spoiler Alert) El Generico had been both partners and opponents in some absolutely epic matches on the indy circuit. I can’t honestly remember seeing a match between them both that wasn’t anything less than outstanding.

More from WrestleMania

Zayn is one of the best bumpers and storytellers in the professional wrestling ring. He is unmatched in his in ring psychology and can draw fans into his matches unlike anyone else. Owens is without a doubt in the top 5 all round guys in the entire WWE right now. His ring work, his promos and his old fashioned heel character stand him apart from his peers. The dynamic that Owens and Zayn have in the ring together puts them in the same category as some other legendary feuds. They are a modern day Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart. They have the potential to top the card for WWE for years to come and hold every title that is available to them. The feud that they have spent the better part of the last decade building could come to fruition on the biggest viewed card that American wrestling holds every year, and it’s no less than the two of them deserve.

Owens and Zayn have been friends for the better part of 14 years, great friends make better enemies. It seems now those enemies are set to face each other on the grandest stage of them all at WrestleMania. There will be so many people watching that match who have followed the careers of these two men and those people will not be surprised to see them steal the show on the biggest night of the year for WWE.
