Is Charlotte About to Get Rid of Ric Flair?

Is WWE sowing the seeds of a Charlotte babyface turn?

It’s just over a week ago, at WrestleMania 32, that we saw the WWE Divas Champion Charlotte become the newly crowned WWE Women’s Champion. Yet again she used her two-time Hall of Fame father Ric Flair to help her win that match. It’s become something of a theme of Charlotte’s reign as the top woman on the WWE main roster, that her dad helps her get the wins that see her hold on to the gold. Ric has shown his daughter some of the moves that helped him gain the moniker “The Dirtiest Player in the Game”, and has become physically involved in several of her matches to stop her opponents from walking away with the win.

On this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw, we saw Dr. Phil come in as a special guest star. The man who dishes out advice on his own TV show every week, tried to hand Charlotte a bit of his trademark advice, telling Charlotte that she should stand on her own two feet and not rely on the help of her father.

Later in the night, Charlotte faced Natalya, with her Women’s Championship on the line. Dr. Phil was at ringside to see if his advice was actually going to make any difference to Charlotte’s match, but it didn’t. With Charlotte looking like she may use the match, and her title, Ric first tried to break up the submission attempt from Natalya, before dragging the referee out of the ring. The bell rang as Charlotte tapped out, the Champ thought she had lost and looked gutted before Lillian Garcia announced that Natalya had won via disqualification.

Charlotte lost the match due to her father’s interference, but she also held on to her title thanks to his help. What if this angle involving Dr. Phil is the very early stages of Charlotte turning baby face and discarding of the services of her father? What if Ric Flair ends up pushing Charlotte away and he then becomes the manager of one of the other women in the company, who then goes on to take the belt away from Charlotte with the help of Ric?

Well, a babyface Charlotte would get a massive response from the audience. We saw how much they got behind her when she came into the company from NXT, along with Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch. It was only a matter of time before she won the Divas title and not long after she did, her father became the man who was always by her side. Ric has taught his daughter a lot in the wrestling world, and now he seems to be doing all he can to take the spotlight away from Charlotte. A turn is the only logical way that this can all go.

Charlotte needs to slowly become angry every time her father gets involved in her matches. Right up to the point where she tells Ric that she doesn’t want him at ringside during one of her matches. Maybe you have Eva Marie come in and be granted a match with Charlotte, who gets a bit cocky and tells Ric she doesn’t need him to be out there this week. Ric agrees but then with his daughter in danger of losing the match, he comes out to apparently help her. He doesn’t really get involved but the distraction is enough to see Charlotte get pinned by Eva Marie.

That sees Eva granted a title match, then we have Ric help her beat his daughter for the belt. You have the image of Ric Flair strutting up the ramp with Eva Marie, as they both receive nuclear heat from the crowd. The whole thing plays out and we eventually get to see Charlotte get her revenge on her father during her rematch for the belt, locking her father in the Figure Four and having him tap out to his own signature manoeuvre.

A face turn is coming for Charlotte, the best way to do that is to have her part ways with her infamous father. When it happens you’ll not forget that it was Dr. Phil that sowed the seeds for all of this to happen!
