After losing the NXT Championship to Samoa Joe at an NXT Live Event, what challenge will be next for Finn Balor in WWE?

In a rather shocking move, Finn Balor lost the NXT Championship to Samoa Joe at a non-televised NXT show in Massachusetts this week. After achieving the record of holding the NXT Championship belt for the longest in NXT history (292 days), it came as a bit of surprise that he would lose it like this.

However, looking down the road, WWE might’ve done this to protect Balor. Not having him drop it on television keeps him strong in the casual viewers eye. Even though he lost the championship, the viewer did not see it happen. Therefore, the causal fan has not been able to see him weak.

Though Finn is technically entitled to rematch, I doubt we will see it on television as WWE plan looks like they want him to continue to look as strong as possible. It seems now that the next move for the former NJPW star is for him to finally make his anticipated debut on the main roster.

The way he debuts though is the real question. Balor has been praised by the higher ups for some time, as many view him as a consistent main eventer in his WWE career. So his debut should be both shocking and memorable. The best way to do this is to have him cost AJ Styles the WWE Championship at Payback.

For the last two weeks, WWE has been teasing that Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson were brought in by Styles to help him conquer the WWE. As the former member of The Bullet Club, this would make sense. However, AJ has said on television that he was not involved in the attacks on Roman Reigns and that he did not ask Gallows and Anderson to help him.

While the fans are lead that it’s tough to believe Styles in what he is telling us, fans will see he was telling the truth the hard way, by seeing him lose to Roman at Payback, thanks to Anderson, Gallows, and Balor.

During the Styles vs. Reigns match, somehow, the referee should be knocked out. This can lead to Gallows and Anderson running down trying to help Styles. The Phenomenal One, however, tells them to ‘stay out of this I got this under control.’ AJ then hits the Styles Clash on Roman Reigns. All of sudden the lights turn out at the Allstate Arena in Chicago, and Finn Balor’s music hits.

He comes down to the ring and Balor, Anderson and Gallows all attack Styles. Even though Styles was a former leader of Bullet Club, Balor was the original leader of the faction, thus, Gallows and Anderson align themselves with him. They leave the ring and not knowing what happened Roman, finally gets up, hits Styles with a spear with the referee also waking up and winning the match and remaining champion.

This accomplishes a lot of great things. One, it brings more heat on Reigns. It is looking like a heel turn in imminent in WWE and with Chicago, famously known as a rowdy crowd, Reigns defending the title cheaply and with assistance from an outside force will certainly increasing his hatred by the fans.

This move also both brings in Balor in a memorable way, but is also creates a fantastic feud going forward. A feud consisting of the former leaders of The Bullet Club is fantastic. Styles and Balor never crossed paths in NJPW, as the latter had left the promotion for WWE. Finn actually left NJPW the same night Styles debuted as well.

Both superstars have personality and charisma so putting these two in a feud could be great for them and for the fans. A conclusion to this feud could culminate at Summerslam. With Finn Balor’s debut on the main roster looking imminent, a feud consisting of the former leaders of the hottest stable in wrestling is the best way for the former NXT Champion to start his career on the main roster.
